It's been almost 2 years, get over it! Congrats to her, I don't like the outfit either but it suits her style... you don't expect little monsters to like Katy's style... so... we might say it once and move on! Some of you will be returning to this thread to make it massier with more posts and continue to like neagtive critics, that's called OBSSESSION! If so, that's terrible. Wear your success with pride, girls. It's yet another BS stereotype that I hadn't even considered before now - when a man flaunts his success, he's seen as a "boss," or "the man," but when a woman does it, she's seen as being a bragging up-herself b***h. I wish more of these women realised that if they had accepted the cover and more women did it, it would be considered normal.As StrawberryBlond said in another thread, critical acclaim does not reflect whether an album is bad or good, or the quality of an artist and musician. Katy is a female pop star, before PRISM (which generally recieved critical acclaim from critics btw), she had Teenage Dream (52 score) and lots of music critics are men in their 40s and 50s, and so obviously an album as girly and sugary as Teenage Dream won't appeal to them. Not to mention that media influences male music critics in their 40s and 50s to don't like albums which are made by women and appeal to a young female audience. A lot of critics are not as professional and genuine as we might think that they are. Most critics just view things the way that media tells them to. The conclusion is that critical acclaim does not necessarily represent whether an artist/musician and their material is good or not. And the reason One Of The Boys was panned by so many critics was mainly for Ur So Gay (which they misinterpreted). Nice to see you agreeing with me for once (got lots of good feedback for what I said in that thread in general too). I also think your points here are quite just. I will defend Katy when I think she deserves it and I felt the Ur So Gay song always needs defending. Blows my mind how people to this day continuously misinterpret it. Since when did gays become associated with stereotypes of reading Hemingway, listening to Mozart and driving electrical cars? So she must be meaning something else. I get it, her use of the word in itself is problematic but it is largely a comedy track and a parody of the way we use the word "gay" rather than using it as a slur. If people can have negative opinions on Gaga and go on a thread to bash her because she looks fat, are you going to post what you posted here?
