Yes. Gaga has a perfect voice for jazz. The issues I have with Cheek to Cheek come from its execution. Why is it an album of covers instead of original tracks? Didn't she write an original track for the album which got scrapped? She could've made jazz huge again, but didn't. Cheek to Cheek was mostly praised for showing Gaga's versatility and talent rather than the material itself.

Cheek to Cheek was a standards album, thats what Tony does.  He doesn't write.  Neither did Sinatra, Ella, or Billie, or nearly any great jazz vocalist.  Gaga needed his mentoring to become more confident in herself as a jazz performer, she wouldn't have been ready to do originals.  She still may not be.   This is a first step for her towards credibility as a jazz artist.  And Jazz listeners would not have been ready to accept an original jazz album from Gaga out of nowhere.

Doing "covers" is a time honored tradition in jazz and has no stigma against it, because vocalists and performers are expected to make the material their own with their individual interpretations.

Its also funny to me that it's almost a guarantee that most people (not necessarily you) complaining about "covers" have probably never heard the songs on C2C in the first place.  One reason this is obvious is because jazz players rarely use the term "covers," and especially not in a negative fashion.   In fact every jazz player is expected to be able to play standards, because it allows musicians to get together, pick a song, and play, without having come together before or rehearsed it.

That may be what Tony does and many other artists, but Gaga isn't them. Gaga has never been part of the crowd. She has always been the one who leads the crowd. Gaga's albums have always consisted of original material so her releasing an album of covers is surprising to a lot of fans. Christina Aguilera released a jazz album which consisted of original tracks as her first (though only) jazz album and it was acclaimed and massively successful, so I don't buy that excuse.

I am a huge jazz fan, but Cheek to Cheek just doesn't capture my attention unfortunately. Gaga is a massive talent that can do a lot more.

I just think, why couldn't Gaga bring GAGA to jazz music?

I am entirely here for another Jazz album from Gaga that is full of original modern Jazz songs with hints of pop, rock, blues, and rap. I think an album like that would be amazing.

i think her jazz album with tony would be another covers album and stuff, i think it wouldn't really effect album 5...i think pop is first and foremost but another jazz album is great cuz it makes her happy and brings in a new crowd.

also....do you guys call album 5 album 6 cuz of cheek to cheek i dunno why but i don't consider it the same discography

I would enjoy it if she added a couple new tracks tbh. But honestly get them coins. Another 1M+ WW selling albums is never a bad thing, and over time they'll actually start selling better  and better as she gains fans

Hands up to the sky 🌧 I’ll be your galaxy 🌌

I hope Gaga does eventually bring Gaga to jazz and do original work.  I want her to keep releasing jazz albums and becoming a better jazz artist.  I just think the "covers" argument against C2C is misguided.  The opportunity with Tony presented itself and is a fantastic collaboration for both of them.  It was a great way for Gaga to show that should could attack the genre.   There is still a question though as to how she would handle more straight-ahead jazz that isn't old show tunes.

Which Christina album is Jazz?  It's definitely not Back to Basics, thats mostly old blues, gospel, soul and R&B with maybe two songs out of 22 that show a jazz blues influence.

You're all such a mess. C2C is the best singer of a generation singing timeless classics, it's literally a formula for a perfect album. It doesn't interfere with her pop releases to record these and they're amazing. I want more Jazz :bye:

thats the key... if it doesnt daylay pop releases too long, then yes im ok with it

but it will always delay it a bit because the project is still gonna take time away especially if she chooses to tour for them

I mean, I probably won't listen to it, but if that's what Gaga wants to do then by all means! I think that C2C helped her grow as an artist and help her find happiness, and if making a jazz album is what it takes to get that, then make jazz albums

If it's jazz music she writes then yes, but even if it's just a whole bunch of standards I wouldn't mind.
