I agree with what Scalia says here: In a strongly-worded dissent, the conservative justice wrote that he did not care that gay marriage was now legal, but he said that the Court's ability to make this decision represented a threat to democracy. "This practice of constitutional revision by an unelected committee of nine, always accompanied (as it is today) by extravagant praise of liberty, robs the People of the most important liberty they asserted in the Declaration of Independence and won in the Revolution of 1776: the freedom to govern themselves."
