ARTPOPdidntflop 3,987
Who is even complaining about Madonna trying to be "s-xy"? People are complaining because she's being silly and stupid. It's just below her. i couldn't like it but this Gaga x Nicki x Azealia x Ariana x Kesha x Bey
Jjang 2,262
Cackling @bunch of bottoms deciding whether a woman is s-xy or not He brought up a valid point that is worthy of a discussion, but of course, the members here had sucked every bit of interest I had in this subject with their annoying comments. Jjang 2,262
There's a difference between being classy and trying too hard and having it come off as desperate.. But you only view it as desperate because of her age, which was what Diplo partially meant..

ARTPOPdidntflop 3,987
But you only view it as desperate because of her age, which was what Diplo partially meant..No, it looks desperate because it's such a desperate attempt at trying to 'connect' and sell records geared towards the younger generation. Diplo was talking about being s-xy, s-xy has nothing to do with it lmao. Madonna can look s-xy if she wants, just don't style yourself up in all neon and dip dye your hair and throw in a Nicki feature and a rave set. It's not even like its always been her style, she's clearly tried to reinvent herself and its a bit messy Gaga x Nicki x Azealia x Ariana x Kesha x Bey
jojuun 4,159
Well, I think I have some sort of explanation. The last few months both Laverne Cox and Caitlyn getting major mainstream media coverage. That has never happened before. Transgenderism is now (finally) at the forefront of mainstream media and social discussion, especially in America. While it has always existed and things like the Transamerica movie with Felicity Huffman (2005) have somewhat made it a mainstream topic in the past, it is only now a big major social discussion and a "hot topic". With no disrespect and absolute love to both Caitlyn and Laverne, they both look as "conventionally beautiful women". Being transgender is obviously not "conventional" at all, they just physically look like "classy" women, Caitlyn being the classy lady in the "mature" category. When Madonna did the MET Gala red carpet a few months ago, her DailyMail comments were incredible. She was wearing a long, black dress that was s-xy but didn't show a lot of skin. Comments included "Never seen Madonna look this good in years!" "I usually don't care for her but she looks gorgeous". The DailyMail later that day updated that same article with Madonna's different outfit for the MET after parties. She changed into quilted hot pants, high top sneakers, a cleavage displaying top and took along her daughter. Comments changed to "Ugh, old and desperate", "What an embarrassing mother" and "Trying too hard." She's not conveying to the social standard of being "typically s-xy". Madonna doesn't look like Sharon Stone or Jessica Lange, they are conventionally "beautiful women". While I personally think Madonna is and has always been an absolute beauty, she doesn't come off like that unless she tries by, for instance, covering up in a not "try hard" long black Moschino dress. Madonna's s-xuality has always been hers. She has always owned it and been unapologetic about it from the get-go. It (unconsciously) scares people. I always explain it like this: there's a difference between "***cat Doll Sexy" and "Madonna Sexy". The ***cat Dolls are "typically" hot, scanitly clad women who live up to the chauvinistic expectations we have of a "hot female". Madonna is not. Hers is bold, hers and not considered "mainstream s-xy". But that's nothing new, that's Madonna's entire career. She'll be remembered for that. While some of you might not see it right now, this fase into Madonna's career is just another feat on her already impossibly long resume. She has tackled every social issue that has ever existed now that she's fighting ageism I think. What Madonna has done for human rights, for feminism, against racism, for the LGBT community, for the stigma around AIDS... Most of you don't have a clue of the impact she has had. Nowadays you can choose from an entire bunch of liberal, creative women in pop music. When Madonna did what she did, she was the only one. That is why she's considered "The Queen" and the mother to all female popstars with an edge. Madonna's social impact is the largest out of any career in pop, ever. She has never compromised, she's neven been "conventional". She's not going to start now. 15 years from now, a lot of people will be like "damn, that b*tch was right". Just like the SEX Book is now praised, just as Erotica is now considered a cult classic. Madonna might look like she's trying really hard to be "on trend" with Diplo productions and pink hair extensions but socially she is way ahead and always have been.Haters will deal and stray pressed. Bookmark this post, I tell you, 15/20 years from now she'll be hailed for being such a game changer and social pusher.P.S. While being a transgendered woman obviously isn't "new thing", it is for the first time into the big, big media. Laverne and Caitlyn like I said, I consider beautiful woman by the social standard our society has. It'll be interesting to see more diversity under trans-women over time. Someone with a very off-beat clothing style or hairdo for instance.
Emvee 8,409
yes, its very stupid for gay men to call out a woman for not being s-xy.And suddenly because we're gay, we're totally blind to what is s-xy and what is not? So logical. This comparison is inappropriate either way you slice it. Totally different situations. Totally different women. Totally different types of "s-xy." Caitlyn's fame is not about being a s-x icon. It's about opening up as a transgender, thus her critics aren't focusing on whether or not she's "too old" to do something. Madonna, on the other hand, lends herself to that criticism, because of her behavior. And what is the point with some of you arguing that this certain opinion is subjective when the whole reason we're debating this IS because Madonna is widely chastised. Yes, the concept of a gay man having a say on whether a woman is s-xually appealing to him or not is rather skeptic & obviously I wouldn't have addressed these comments in that manner if they weren't so cynical and obnoxious in the first place.I'm indifferent towards what Diplo said and him in general really, so I'm not going to argue on his favor. Sure, Madonna lends herself to that form of criticism, but that doesn't make them right, nor warranted.
