I mean, of all ways to signify her 'rebirth' (something Gaga is huge on, based an entire album around) she goes and burns her sh*t weave? So dark and mysterious I wonder what's the meaning behind it? The b---h is just mad because she's never gonna be considered an icon, since #1's are not all that matters. Pulling a Gaga won't make it all go smoothly sweetheart. But nice try, made me chuckle. StrawberryBlond 14,193 Posted August 3, 2013 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I really commend her for actually going ahead with this dark theme since the names of some of her new songs and her list of producers really made it sound as if she'd scrapped the idea because it wouldn't sell. But I've got the feeling she's going to completely fail with this new image. Whenever Katy has gone "dark," it's always associated with humour (she dressed up a textbook goth for an awards show once and I still burst into laughter whenever I see it) or just plain insincerity (her recent outfit changes and this try-hard teaser). Burning the clothes from your old era is nothing new (Xtina did it in her Not Myself Tonight video and it was widely panned) and nor is a more ''serious" pop rock image. I'd be interested to see what a pop rock Katy could do, but I wouldn't expect anything above the likes of Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. No doubt she will find a way to be mainstream with such an unpopular style of music but that will come down to marketing, not amazing music. I predicted that this era will not go that well for her but I could be wrong. So far as I can see, only her fans are hyped for her new music - no one else. Even non-Gaga fans can't wait to see what crazy Gaga will do next and she's been hyping her new work longer than Katy. Whatever happens, there is one certainty - Katy's going to have to work much harder to prove herself this time. The third album is a very important one and she'll be under so much pressure to equal/top Teenage Dream's success (which she will not do) and if she fails, she's unlikely to ever recover. On a side note, what's with all the wild animal names about in music right now? Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion, James Blake has a song on his new album called Digital Lion, Jessie J released a single called Wild and now Katy's got a single called Roar. I think the industry's trying to say something about wildlife! This is like 2011 when everyone seemed to be releasing singles that featured a word involving explosions!
