Economy 49,535
No. It is iconic but not on the same level as Vogue and Thriller. artistically it is if u mean iconic in terms of inspiration to generations then obviously not

blacklistedd 599
I genuinely think its one of the best pop songs and videos of this time period. So sure.I can't with any fan here that says its overrated. Everyones entitled to their opinion but imo those that are sort of anti-bad romance are either resentful of the fact that shes yet to make something that truly lives up to it (if at least commercially/critically) or they're just so contrary and up their own asses. But like I said, thats imo.
blacklistedd 599
artistically it is if u mean iconic in terms of inspiration to generations then obviously not Well to be fair It cant be an inspiration to generations when its apart of the current one. I don't think a video has to be directly influential to other videos though to be iconic. But to be honest, Gaga fueled a little movement in pop music upon her debut and in a way, shes already influenced plenty of people.
BlackJudas 129
Vogue? Possibly but BR will never be on the same level as Thriller. Thriller literally birthed the thought and idea process of "short films". Not saying BR isn't good but Thriller's entire era (both as an album and single) is something Michael himself couldn't even recreate with his post albums. Thriller is on its own. Wet Fire 7,404
I think so. No other video this century has made the impact that BR has made.

I think people are hard pressed to allow any one video or one artist to get that much credit. Cynicism is king. That being said, it already made an impact that was at least nearly as valid and wide. Will anyone care in 10+years? Who knows. But I think its just as delusional for you to strip her of having a legacy thats as valid as Madonnas, obviously not in the same way but nevertheless. But I mean you're Jjang, you tend to have a bias opinion of Lady Gaga in regards to Madonna.

But like I said, thats imo.Actually I am not a BIG fan of Bad Romance, sure it's got a good production and it's WAY better than 3/4s of the Fame but I still think the song is way too overrated. It's one of the best pop songs and videos of this time period but I'd be comparing it to Poker Face, or Just Dance in terms of "basicness", even though I've never thought of Gaga being basic. I am not a pressed Gaga fan, I simply think there are songs with a more creative approach than BR even on the same album like DITD: both dark songs but one of them has got more replay value and is better layered.Edit: for the MV with the most potential to being on par with old classics like Thriller, I think she's still got a long way to go but so far MTN gets the cookie, even though it wasn't as impactful as BR. I don't think the song matched the video, I thought it was awkwardly timed and edited, and I thought the acting was especially cringeworthy. As for Bad Romance being "basic", I think Bad Romance is definitely one of her most accessible songs along with Poker Face and Just Dance but I abhor the thought of it being labeled basic. Its not exactly substantial as far as music goes but its a near perfect pop song. Idk I just completely disagree with you.
