Does that conservative party support equal rights for s-xual minorities? If CDU/CSU are the only Christian parties I think that Merkel might try it, or give her party's members the freedom to vote in favour or not depending on what they think themselves. It's the only christian and conservative party in the parliament. And the only one in the parliament who does not support equal rights. Though voices get louder within the party to make gay marriage. It's very hard to 'just' create a new party and actually be successful, and only if you appeal to a new demographic, this will work. I think maybe a new liberal, secular right-wing party could steal some votes from CSU/CDU and get 5%+ votes Say someone famous-say Helene starts one to support the gays Would it work? Ideas are also important. Maybe a well-known column-writer or a former, progressive CDU-/CSU-member could be successful but I really doubt it.Germany will have to do it with their current parties.
