This is like a d--g addict balaming the supplier for his addiction if u wanna reduce oil consumption, find innovative ways to make the economy manage to survive on less of it duh some people dont understand that. It's not like they could do something about it!1111! as i said, d--g addict blaming his supplier for his addiction oil companies are not to blame. we need oil and they supply it. NO THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Even if a company decides for ethical reasons to stop pumping, some other company will take his market share. what was accomplished? nothing! Fact is, if u destroyed them, wed be done. Without them theres no fuel for your family car, and no oil to make asphalt for the roads you use, or shingles in your home roof, or plastics and all those things that make your life comfortable. No cheap oil based fertilizers and pesticides to help keep food prices affordable. u wanna change, it starts with our pattners and how we consume. Its not up to oil companies to do that for us. If you have the power to change the world for the better, you are responsible for such change. what does that have anything to do with this? and no i dont support non-regulated use of weapons like in the US. as for what u said to wolfsmck, that isnt really totally true of all companies, many companies involved in fossil extraction exist in the green realm also And here in Canada our oil sands companies spend tones of money on research to reduce amount of water and energy to seperate oil from sand. Not to mention a fortune in land reclamation costs. True much they do cause they have to legaly, but to say they arent doing anything for innovation is purely not true like, AT ALL anyway my point is, society needs to make changes. Blaming oil comapnies may make people feel better about their incompetence or the fact that they crioticize and do nothing but it doesnt change the fact that everyone is part of the problem Im not "that type of person" as ur putting it. Im the type of person that looks at all things in a realistic way and from multiple angles. But the notion that oil companies and petroleum are the problem is ignorant. Morality is easy for outsiders to window shop. Who should do what to save the earth? Get elected president and tell me how much difference you'll make...Weapons don't shoot themselves....duh!We need the technology and wealth that the oil companies have at their disposal to control climate damage, and they are complying, withing the limits of what they can do. Stopping them would wipe out a huge knowledge base and revenue source to adapt to the climate damage. No way to stop climate change anyway, its gonna happen regardless of human activity.
