Rino 5,120
it depends who is 'they' for you.... I could give you other pop stars that have also impact in music industry : Madonna, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and even Rihanna. Gaga has a huge place in music industry but let's not pretend she's the only one... idk, I think I'm in a Gaga fan site right now and I genuinely believe that she has more talent and potential than all these four you mentioned. I would even go on to say that her impact is bigger than Britney's, Katy's and Rihanna's. and I hope one day she will also surpass Madonna. 月にかわって、おしおきよ!🌙

In term of impact three of them are settled down whether Monsters want it or not.And Madonna is still the Queen of pop and nobody will take her throne ever (even Lady Gaga)I not even a huge fan of Britney, Madonna, Rihanna or Katy, I just like them or some of their songs.. But when some of you say they have no impact in pop music : WTF.. You can be fan of Lady Gaga and understand she's not the only powerful girl in pop culture.. I'm not saying they don't have ANY impact, but clearly Lady Gaga ****s all over her contemporaries when it comes down to influence and impact, no matter you like it or not Gaga is the best pop artist that has come to scene since Madonna and Michael Jackson and you will deal. P.S. Madonna will remain the Queen of Pop, but Gaga is going to claim the title of the Queen of Music 月にかわって、おしおきよ!🌙

Kayla 7,595
Not more impact than Gaga overall though. Gaga made music videos popular and epic again, she influence the rise of electronic and pop music, she made having a fan base relevant, she influenced fashion, she influenced social media sites like twitter, she brought a more theatrical and spectacular performance style, and I could go on and on. I agree. Things changed when she came on the scene. Hell, she was the person people asked other pop girls about in interviews. One of her contemporaries (and even music legends) couldn't sit down for an interview before being asked "So what do you think of this 'Lady Gaga'?" It's interesting that you brought up how she made having a fanbase relevant; I never thought of that, but you're right- artists really started reaching out to their fans more, even gave them nicknames, after Gaga started to do it so much. (I'm aware Gaga was not the first to do so or the first to give her fanbase a name, but it certainly hadn't been a thing in pop for a long time until she did it) Some people here are confusing success for impact once again.. There's a differance between these two, just sayin'.. And yes, Nowdays Gaga clearly has more influence and imapct then pretty much everyone combined... and a few hits does not change that. If it wasn't Gaga, the music industry would have been completely different. Can't say that for no one else. Impact is not the same thing with success.... To the to posts above, exactly. You need some type of success to be impactful, but not all musicians have both. Gaga has shown diversity in genres, influenced fashion, has been a fashion muse for designers, has garnered praise (and collaborations) with legends/highly regarded people, she brought back the music video (obviously people were still making videos, but no one really cared that much about them between Britney and Gaga), made fanbases relevant, has had iconic performances (had we really had any from a pop girl since Britney?), made cultural impact with BTW, spoke on DADT, spoke at Pride rallies/marches, etc. etc. etc. Also what really defines impact in today's current pop culture and not just trends? Yeah around TF/TFM she definitely influenced people to be more out there and different, but what about now? Can we really see any of her influence in the past couple of years? Even with Adele who made ballads the next big thing, you don't really see that much anymore either. It's weird how we can still cite influences from decades ago, but nothing really seems to actually stick in today's pop climate Once Gaga started toning it down others did too. Not to mention, after Gaga started talking about focusing on the ART other artists piped up and were doing it as well.

It's OK to think Gaga is the best pop star because that's an opinion, but you shouldn't be a blind fan PS. how can she be the queen of music when she's done original music only in one genre

Dangerous Man 9,245
I agree, Gaga is far superior than Taylor in terms of talent and cultural impact. Also, Gaga is more successful than her or equal in terms of WW commercial success and Gaga was only here for 6 years while Tay was here for almost 10 years already. Jjang 2,262
I am talking mostly about modern artists. And Rihanna only really impacted fashion. Nothing else. As if. What groundbreaking musical impact did Gaga have on today's generation? There is literally a respectable amount of Rihanna copycats that are already showing signs of it in the music industry. It only looks like that because she debuted at a time where fan voting culture became insanely popular, same applies for artists like Justin Bieber.-Theatrical pop performances and tours were premeried by artists like Madonna & David Bowie, not Gaga. She just continued their approach.-Your social media statement is arguable, she has the least amount of social media followers in comparison to her contemporaries.
