You always come into these arguments and try to go at it without any nuance. We are discussing racial politics in the U.S., I know nothing about the systems of different countries and therefore do not comment on them.

​I said Europeans when I was referring to the Europeans who came to the Americas and were taking over Native American land. They identified as "Europeans" then. I did make a mistake in not specifying the shift from "Europeans" to "American Whites" when I shifted from talking about Native American domination to African slavery and then African American mistreatment, so that was my mistake. 

When it comes to these threads, it's usually a given that people are talking about American whites, not the general "caucasian" race as a whole. The tweets in the OP say "Europeans" when talking about enslavement in the US, but then specify "American Whites," reference MLK Day (which is a holiday celebrated in only USA, Canada, and Japan), relate looting to Wall Street and say "*entire rest of america*" in one tweet, target American Republican Bruce Jenner, and the tweeter herself is from America working at Boston University- Boston, where the latest riots revolving around American race issues are happening. 

I'd say it's pretty obvious American whites are who the professor is targeting and issues between American whites and American blacks are what they are focusing on, not whites around the world, not current day Europeans. Considering the context is important.

I think gender and race (or, more appropriately, ethnicity) can be very positive things- it's good for people to use them to create solidarity with others, have a sense of pride for who they are, etc.
Putting us all on the same playing field under the guise of "we're all human!," which we are, is good, but recognizing our differences with respect is even better.

We're all human. But we have different skin tones, different body shapes, different genders, different ways of life. And all of those differences are worthy of recognition, admiration, and respect.

​Exactly  that's why I simply try to ignore any threads where race is mentioned, or where I see terms such as reverse racism, cis-privilege, white-privilege. It's usually a place to fester online fighting. I'll just live my life respecting people and their differences (that does not mean respecting intolerant opinions, of course).

​Thanks for sharing. According to the article he hid what his ancestor did because he was ashamed of it, but then later came to realize his ancestors actions didn't reflect on Ben as a person (what some ancestor of his did is not representative of who Ben is). His apology sounded sincere and that he is aware that racial tensions stemming from roots in racism still exist.

Honestly, there are a lot of people out there I'm sure would try to hide it. I've never done a ancestory search, but if I found out I had a family member that own slaves or was a member of the Klan (which is very possible being that I have family from Mississippi) I would be ashamed of them, but it doesn't reflect on me as a person, so I wouldn't care if it was out. I definitely know I have a family history of mental disease, and I mean very recent, but it doesn't reflect my character or health.  

I wonder if he tried to hide it because he is scared people are going to attack him screaming for reparations?

She's a mess, she doesn't know her history or appear to have common sense and she's doing that **** where they group "white people" all together, it's no different than talking about "Asians" as one group when the cultures are far different.

And by the way, "white males" are currently the most successful group militarily, economically and politically and have been so for quite a while now, so they must be doing something right... she seems pressed at success.
