This sounds kinda ridiculous to me  My knowledge of Christianity is pretty limited, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't say that it's a death worthy crime anywhere  And from watching 'Prayers for Bobby' the priest in that said that the whole Sodom & Gomorrah people could've been punished for something other than homos-xuality (people there were very hedonsitic there if my recollection of my Religious Studies class years ago is correct  )

​Exactly   ​Thats why this is so ridiculous. Yes, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were immoral for several reasons, and homos-xual intercourse (between men/men+boys of course #Patriarchy4Lyfe  ) was seen as a pinnacle of ultimate lust; so yes, hedonism. Views of homos-xual intercourse were often like this, where as "homos-xuality" is a relatively new term to describe an old concept. Homos-xuality existed back then in terms of romantic attraction to other males (see Sparta ) but it was overshadowed by the hedonistic, "ultimate challenge". A man who could best another man in battle, or emasculate him was therefore seen as even more manly by society; though religion and the bible were extremely patriarchal concepts as well with a tidbit of misogyny  .They believed that emasculating another man was wrong, and gay s-x was like "conquering" . Other men were seen as meanwhile foes worth conquering, while women were "easy" and could get boring for some. Thus we have hedonistic gay s-x leading to the burning of a city, and the occurrence later transformed into altar boys and pederasty . 

Tbh, the idea that "everyone is entitled to their opinion, and thats that" is only so true. You can believe whatever you want, but dont expect no criticism.
Also, I don't think beliefs are JUST beliefs. Harmful beliefs and attitudes perpetuate more harmful beliefs and attitudes because humans are followers by nature  I honestly can never understand how believing in something so rigidly, acknowledging that it's a harmful opinion makes sense.( as in, literally indirectly causes harm to people ) Religion is such a powerful tool tbh  Indoctrination and long-held beliefs are scary in the hands of adults with influence.
