In fact some etymologists and linguists/historians have found that the modern word "abomination" is a translation of a word with much less seriousness; homos-xuality is just as "wrong" according to the bible as eating Shrimp is, and Christian's eat Shrimp like crazy, im sure Although I'm a strong Atheist, im also a rationalist and critically a--lyzing parts of the bible like this is so interesting, because it becomes so obvious that we are clearly misinterpreting certain parts from a historical/etymological sense but everyone just WANTS to keep believing in these false narrative. Like, the level of selective-belief in the bible from fundamentalists is actually just pretty ridiculous Excellent post! It is true that there are some very...interesting... stuff that the Bible condones and condemns according to most modern interpretations, but we have to remember that these books have been translated and re-translated several times, which is why I think that there are so many denominations of Christianity alone. I myself often make the mistake of forgetting this crucial detail. I too am an Atheist but want to be fair to my good Christian friends, all of whom would condemn this type of rhetoric. I do think it's quite hilarious that in the exact same book (Leviticus) that certain hateful individuals like to drag out they condemn things like wearing different cloths and eating shell fish, things these individuals love . And boy, do they hate to be reminded of it! the bible also says to kill your daughter if she's not a virgin on her wedding night, if your children disrespects you to stone them , its a sin to eat shrimp , wear blended fabrics , get a divorce , remarry. and about 100 other stupid things... in fact you know jesus never said a word about homos-xuality ? not one ... nor did god... but PEOPLE wrote it. If I recall correctly, these have been in every version I have read (King James, Gideon, and I can't remember the other). It has been a few years since I have picked up my Bible.
