Travis 543
Please, let Gaga have her 2016 year and then you can release I don't think there's anyway she'll release next year. I don't think she'll start work on the album until near the end of, if not after, the tour. And right now that's "ending" in December if they don't extend it. StrawberryBlond 13,941
Hope this is her way of saying that she's going back to her roots. Even though I'm not a fan of any of her work, her debut was her best and felt like the real her. It's more mature than some of the stuff she wrote for Red and 1989 anyway. She knows that going generic and commercial has come at a price, namely, Grammys. Despite her Grammy haul for Fearless and Speak Now, Red didn't win anything or was even nominated for all that much and so far, nothing from 1989 has won either (despite SIO having 3 noms and being one of the biggest songs of the year). The academy clearly aren't keen on popstar Taylor and want country Taylor with her curly hair and guitar back again. She knows she needs to do this and the awards will come flooding back. She has the luxury of selling when she was being real and selling when she was being commercial, so she can go whichever way she chooses and still do relatively well. She's annoyingly lucky that way.But let's not mess about: doing an EDM song with Calvin will be on the agenda somewhere...unless they break up before it's released and/or he cuts her from appearing on his album like he did with Rita Ora. She'll ride this commercial train for as long as she can while she's on a roll. A lot of artists go through this stage in their careers: the stage where they just want success so they can say they did it. So they can say they had an album that sold millions, that had #1's and top ten singles, tons of VEVO views, tons of awards and a sellout world tour at large venues. But once they've done it, they want to go back to being a true artist again. Hopefully Taylor will do this next time. And damn right, she needs to take her time with it. These fourth quarter releases every 2 years without fail are doing her no good. An artist can't flourish if they work to such a strict, permanent schedule with every album cycle. These fourth quarter releases every 2 years without fail are doing her no good. An artist can't flourish if they work to such a strict, permanent schedule with every album cycle.I'm sorry, but none of these generalizations are true. Speak Now is what 99.9% of fans and critics alike consider to be her best studio album to date, featuring 16 songs written only by her. It's her most personal and mature album to date. Red only has three pop songs out of the 19 songs on the deluxe version, and even those songs have a country feel to it, so it's far from being a pop record. As for the Grammys, it got nominated for 4 awards, more than any album of hers since Fearless in 2009, so the academy certainly do not seem to mind her recent efforts. They also dedicated an entire exhibit to her career and new sound. Also, the reason Shake It Off was against songs like Happy, Stay With Me, Chandelier etc. so it was clear it was not going to win anything from the beginning. It was also the most recent of the lot. Sia did not win anything while Chandelier was the clear favorite, but it does not mean the academy did not like her new sound, image or whatever. It's not like she decided to go pop in order to be commercial and sell and get radio airplay (she was still getting tons on country radio anyway). It's a clear progression of her sound that can be traced back to Fearless, where pop started slowly seeping into her sound. As for the Calvin/Taylor relationship, Calvin's the one who benefits the most from the commercial train and, if I recall correctly, Taylor said she didn't like EDM a couple of years back. "So they can say they had an album that sold millions, that had #1's and top ten singles, tons of VEVO views, tons of awards and a sellout world tour at large venues." She has been selling millions, getting top ten singles, awards and sell outs since Fearless, so going with a more mainstream sound is not the reason why she does it. who will love me when the night is over

ARTPOPchamp 292
Calvin Harris and Kanye West? More Max Martin and Dr. Luke? No thanks. I stopped paying attention to Taylor after ... Well actually I've never paid attention to her. Last time she actually had a good song was that song 15. She's a sell out. She's sold out country music, country artists and the genre that made her who she is. She's a sell out, that's my opinion.
