Sure...

Just wanted to say, not defending Russia. I just dislike how the world concentrates on Russia while not see the pain of homos-xuals in other countries.

I understand what you mean, but it's really not "heaven" for LGBT individuals in Russia right now.

I know, but I mean compared to some countries. Thats why I am happy that the European Union accepts gay refugees from countries including Russia!

Dangerous Man

Aww, if only Russia know how kind, loving and awesome person Gaga is. Well, I bet Gaga doesn't give an F to these kind of articles anymore. Back-off judgmental people!

I don't think we should necessarily blame RUSSIA we should blame the government an their delusional propaganda taking advantage of the weak minded people in their population.

hatred is a choice & taught not s-xuality, and those who believe we CHOOSE to be hated are delusional, being a member of the LGBTQ+ isn't by choice

That's it.

I vow that this post will be the last time I ever acknowledge Russia as an actual country. :smh:

Russia- a beautiful country ruined by awful people

maybe thats the reason I hate it

YAASSS HA IMPACT!! :legend:

but seriously, who actually uses a propaganda that allow people to beat up gay people who just live their lives. smh. fuk you Russia. #thirdworldkuntry :excuseme:

These articles are always frustrating and we are obviously outraged by such ignorance and dangerous hatred. However I dont think the right aproach would be to doubt Russia as an "actual country", dismiss it as "third world" or "hate it". Remember: same s-x "activity" only started to be decriminalized in the UK in the 60s, up until then gay people had to choose between going to jail or enduring hormone "therapy". In the same period, Martin Luther King had the washington rally to fight for everybody's right to vote in the American south. Apartheid in South Africa, the most developed country in the African continent, ended in the 90s. "Dont ask dont tell" was revoked only 4 years ago in the US, and transgender people still cant serve in the American military. Ireland, Germany and Austria still do not have gay marriage. Singapore punishes illegal immigrants with canning and arrests political dissidents. Women throughout most of the developed world still dont have equal pay and suffer s-xual violence and harassment. LGBT people have been tortured and murdered in the last years in quite a few developed countries by homophobes and fascists, such as in Canada (2012, 2013), France (2013), and US (2013).

Im not saying all of this to somehow defend Russia, but to point out that when human rights activists claim that seeking equality and justice for all is a constant, ongoing fight around the world, they are not exaggerating.

Russia has made and continues to make extremely important contributions to the world in many fields of knowledge, including literature, dance, astronomy. It is and always has been also a very diverse country, rich in cultural expression and cientific activities. Its not fair to judge the whole country and its history based on its current leadership, which is in many ways reminiscent of Soviet era politics. Also keep in mind the fact that the Russian government has now a very strong hold on public debates, controling the media and spreading oficial propaganda.

So the best approach in my opiniong is not to exclude and ridicule Russians, but to engage with them and denounce the Russian corrupt, maquiavelic leadership and political elite whenever we can.

All I can say is that there needs to be some type of program to help get LGBT individuals the **** out of Russia.
