Gaga was very much the driving force for the electronic sound on radio, The Fame was a breakthrough album that propelled what we loved about pop music & good time music back to the mainstream.

Without her, a lot of music acts wouldn't have had as much success as they've had now whether they acknowledge her or not. Especially the popular DJs like Guetta, Calvin Harris & Zedd

Did Gaga start the electropop trend

or did JT?

JT? I assume you mean Justin Timberlake. He did typical dance-pop, Lady Gaga pioneered the electro-pop sound and brought it into the mainstream, dear.

It was a slow growing thing. Timbaland started using electronic elements in his productions but it was still very urban. Gaga was the first one to actually go full electropop in her music.

To a degree. Disturbia and Womanizer were both huge electro hits before Just Dance hit it big

No, there was a current wave of electronic pop music releases at that time and she rode it..

Gaga & The Black Eyed Peas had the most recognizable hits out of the bunch.

She was a solid contributor, though.

Are you from the US? Because Djs like Guetta and electro dance music were SO popular here, and around the world.

Lady Gaga brought electro-pop, that unification of superpop beats with electropop and dance to the mainstream, although dance pop has been around for decades. Also, without Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift's new album wouldnt be as popular. Gaga has paved the way and still to the day everyone is capitalizing on it. Its a fact.

Ray of Light has been credited for bringing electronic music into mainstream pop scene. Electronica wasn't totally mainstream fare when Madonna released Ray of Light.

Its considered to be a major contributor to the trends in electronic music with significant use of digital sampling and use of an electronic synthesizer.

However, electronic dance music was already a force in the mid 2000s in Europe & it spread worldwide, reaching the US a few years later on.
