Pastors perception of what religion should be disgusts me. I am atheist but honestly I think that it's not religion itself that's to blame but the people delivering the "message" of what christianity should be!

Good for her :legend:

I too am an atheist and I agree. I know a great many good Christians that are loving, accepting, and charitable. Why? Because they don't believe that Jesus would find a relationship full of kindness and warmth between two of the same s-x as an abomination. They also know it isn't a choice.

I do have to say that it does say in most modern interpretations of the bible that homos-xuality is wrong. It's pretty black in white in Leviticus and I think Paul made a comment on it. It also says in Leviticus that shell fish is forbidden I think. I mention this only because that's the passage many churches get their doctrine from.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Evangelicals baptize their babies? That's news to me. Must be a German thing.

Not all ,some wait till 14. But back in time the majority were baptized as a child

Oh. Here that's a Catholic thing (to baptize babies). Evangelicals only get baptized until they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and have the knowledge to understand baptism. The youngest are usually like pre-teens.

Same. I don't believe people are "born" into a religion (basically forced). I think it's better if people decide what they want to believe later on.

It seems like it has become more of a cultural thing (or ethic) though. Because I know people who consider themselves Jews even if they don't practice Judaism.

Or is this person just wrong? :flop:

Yeah. I just don't agree when for example Christian parents assume that their kids will be Christians and force them to do things instead of letting them make up their mind.

The Bible should never be taken too seriously. Many things are a metaphor or a moral value that is 2000 years old. It's okay to believe in the Bible, there are many important life lessons that can be learnt from religious books, but you also have to think about criticism of what you believe... why would God actually hate homos-xuals? Why would he send them to hell? (if he existed) And if we assume God is good, he wouldn't discriminate nor judge, right? And he wouldn't be so arrogant to say: 'you go to hell because you don't love me, and you go to hell because you didn't go to church to worship me every Sunday!', right?

If you need a consequence to withhold you from doing immoral things, that actually means that you're a bad person on the inside
