I really feel that ARTPOP delivered big, but some of the fans here don´t like it cause it "underperformed", but really this album has the best instrumentals yet, some of the best lyrics, ARTPOP carries the message of being who you are better than BTW and it says it in a metaphorical way so it´s much better imo and her playing with words on this album is really clever as well, G.U.Y, MANiCURE, the double meaning of Venus  

And for those of you who don´t read between the lines, the first half of the album deals with insecurity (ART), the second half with overtly self-confidence (POP), with ARTPOP in the middle saying that they could belong together, the insecure part of you and the one trying to be cool, it says that you can be cool while being yourself

I agree with you. People just hate on it because of chart performance, very little in this fanbase is based on the actual music, so much is based on chart performance and general public reception. Too many Monsters dwell on chart performances and sales. They let sales numbers and charts determine if they like the music or not.

I have been reading the forum but never wanted to post. Just wanna say hi to everyone

I became a fan of Lady Gaga since ARTPOP era :) To me it's very different from many albums out there and the production is amazing. and Gaga's lyrics made them so unique. I mean imo it's way better than Beyonce, Prism, and let's not even talk about Britney Jean.

But reading on here I see a lot of members dislike it or disappointed in it. Could you explain to me why?

ARTPOP is my favorite album and I love it, but unfortunately most people don't appreciate it and often shade it because it didn't sell as well as expected, so they think that it was a complete failure, even though it is really good

​To me, ARTPOP isn't awful and it's definitely listen-able, but in contrast to BTW - it felt like a complete regression; especially when you consider the epic moments of that album. I think I also set my own expectation far too high when Aura leaked, but I did the same with Rebel Heart and RH/WAOM

Rebel Heart was bad, it sounds bad and Madonna tried to look like Gaga she dyed her hair grey I think lol :)​

​I honestly think it's not even as good as Britney Jean but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority about that; BJ has more intensely EDM/dance focussed moments (alongside al ot of crap but that's not related).

It's a decent album but after a few months of not listening to Gaga I completely forgot it existed, that would never happen with her other albums. It had absolutely no lasting effect in the real world, it's just there. I would say it's rated pretty fairly cause most Gaga fans like it even if they consider it her weakest.

She promised ultimate slayage and returning from the ashes for the AP era and we got none of that. Of course the disappointment of that tarnished the entire perception of the ARTPOP era. Charts matter and there is nothing wrong with taking them into account. It's so trendy to bash people who look at charts when in fact it is a very important part of music. And also, for those who were here for it, the AP era was very stressful. All those blackouts, the endless waiting for the DWUW vid, the APP mess...these memories are linked to the music, of course they will influence the perception of the product
