DJWS spilled some very hot tea on Lady Gaga back in 2011 when Born This Way came out

Oh, I remember this well. I hoped this was going to be the article and it was. I wish it had made worldwide news because it is spot on.

"Actually, there are 5 songs on the radio right now that have the exact same chords and progression. Actually, there are 5 songs that are exactly the same on the radio at the same time. Right now. Why doesn't anyone ever bring that up?"

This is what I said the whole time people were calling the song a rip-off. There are rip-offs everywhere and no one's calling them out. And anyway, just because you hear a song that vaugely reminds you of other songs doesn't make it a rip-off. That can actually be part of the beauty of music - great songs reminding you of other great songs. People are so cynical nowadays but there's still something called a coincidence. It's not like an artist must have a mental catalogue of every song ever made and can automatically tell in the production process that a song sounds like another song. It'll sound different to the creator's ears anyway.

And he's totally right about everyone trying to steal Gaga's style and if anyone's being copied, it's her. Let's not forget how Katy Perry, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj were a whole lot more theatrical when Gaga was all the rage and when she dipped in popularity, suddenly, they went all "au natural" again. And obviously, Gaga made dance music popular and there are still some people who are making EDM to be popular even though that's dying out now. I love his point about how Gaga was expected to release a Fame Part 2 but actually released something completely different, making all the people who copied The Fame style look totally redundant.

So true BTW is so ahead of it's time , before TF/TFM there was no appreciated Dance Pop album, pop music was low brow. After TF/TFM records such as Teenage Dream and Loud followed, I think Gaga gave a definition to the term era , Era: an album with distinctive sound, fashion, performances, tour. Before that Artists more or less had the same formula for everything. After BTW it took till today for similar records to come out and be appreciated.
