My Ideas for ARTPOP

Featured Posts

Trust me, I recognize that this thread has been made time and time again. I mean EVERYBODY has an opinion about "ARTPOP". (Critics and fans alike) Now you're probably wondering, what sets my opinions apart from everyone else's? The answer is simple...nothing. But if we're on a forum to discuss all things Gaga I figure there's no harm in throwing it out there, even at the expense of my likability.

This is is my version of Lady Gaga's ARTPOP. This includes a new, rather unconventional cover art, track list that might piss some of you off, and single selections. Hope you enjoy!

First things first. The Cover art...

vz7mr.jpg

To me, this image, reflects the quote, "Sometimes the simplest move is right", because when I look at this I see the electricity sparkling from her eyes, as thought she's pushing through the darkness. Another aspect about the image is how the "flaws" are showcased very boldy. There are red wrings around her eyes, freckles on her face, and even some minimal wrinkles. You can easily identify the popstar, that's not an issue, but you also get a glimpse of the girl behind the aura, the girl behind the glamour.

Secondly, The Track-listing...

ARTPOP:

1.) Aura (Demo Vocals, Remastered and Polished)
2.) Venus
3.) G.U.Y
4.) Sexxx Dreams
5.) Do What U Want (Feat. Christina Aguilera)
6.) ARTPOP
7.) Swine (With piano opening and guitar solo)
8.) Mary Jane Holland
9.) Dope (With a more "I wanna be with you" style vocal)
10.) Gypsy
11.) Applause

Third and finally, The Singles...

LEAD SINGLE: VENUS - Since you have the hype of your return around you, why not put your most experimental track out first? The monsters, being thirsty for new music would've shot this into the top ten on BB100, and the GP would hopefully be curious enough to check it out. I've always felt that choosing Venus as the lead single would've been the smartest career move in terms of ARTPOP. For me it literally is Bad Romance 2.0 in the sense that it's so strange, different, relatable (s-x) and catchy; but not too strange and catchy like Aura.

SECOND SINGLE: GYPSY - This single would come BEFORE the album drops, and would be a compliment to the the two major tones of the record. The first have of ARTPOP is more fun and upbeat whereas the second half is rather dark and emotional.  When speaking of the album as a whole, not only is this song the most relatable, it's also her most radio friendly. I could definitely see this being her "Blank Space".

THIRD SINGLE: DO WHAT U WANT (FEAT. XTINA) - Honestly, I like the R. Kelly version better than the Xtina remix, but the latter would be the most sellable. R. Kelly's controversies definitely downgraded the single era. Either way, speaking about the song in general, I find it BETTER THAN BAD ROMANCE. This song is like the magnum opus of ARTPOP. There is something so emotional, s-xy, and electric about this track. We already know how well it did with R. Kelly on the track, no video, and not a lot of promo. Could you imagine it with Xtina, a s-xy Music Video, and stellar performances?

FOURTH SINGLE: DOPE (With "I wanna be with you" type vocals) : I know that most of you will be like, WHHHHAAAAT? But....hear me out. The version we have now charted in the top ten of BBH100, apart from that critics have commented that Dope really shows a fresh raw side of Gaga that people want to see more of. Imagine the most shocking part about this era and single would be how stripped and simple to visuals are. I'm thinking straight brunette hair, sleek dresses, and a piano at her side. The world would go crazy.

100% agree about the cover, in fact that was my idea too ever since I saw it.

The tracklist :wtf: Too little tracks, the album length would be too short as well imo, but I see the flow that you were trying to bring into it and it would certainly appear to be less chaotic and unfocused to the people who think of the album that way.

Dope as a single though :flop: The Top 10 thing is 100% because of YouTube viewing numbers. I always thought that the only way that single would work is if it was released either in the beginning of an era or just as a separate era so the song isn't part of an album that's already released.

Disagree about DWUW because I think R. Kelly's version is way more commercially attractive and it makes more sense when you remember that Gaga's point was to merge with the R&B genre. Plus, we all saw how well the Xtina version did on the charts :proud:

But I like your thoughts as usual :nick: Thanks for posting this, it's nice to have this back.

I like everything except the cover art. Your idea is great but for my personal taste this cover just looks too dark.

And yes - Venus, Gypsy and Dope are my favourite songs. They might have been great singles. :wao:

I don't think the cover fits the album. If ARTPOP is something, that's colorful. I feel like it lacks bold. The great thing about the ARTPOP cover is that there's nothing quite like it. However, there are hundreds of album covers with the artist's face on it. Don't get me wrong, I love the edit, but I don't feel it for this album.

About the tracklist, I like your ideas. I disagree with the singles choice though. Am I the only one who thinks Applause was the best choice as lead single? I would have made Venus the second single, G.U.Y. the third and Aura the fourth one.

Idk why everybody isn't ok with Applause as the lead single, because to me it's the best choice for the album. And its success compared to the other ARTPOP singles show it :proud:

Thank you. Most of this is just perceptively tailored to my own taste, and it's definitely not for everyone. I created the track list the way I did because I feel what made "The Fame Monster" such an amazing body of work was the amount of tracks it had. It wouldn't be the Magnum opus is it if it were cluttered with tracks that were good, but fillers in comparison to the rest of the record.

Also, I personally agree with you on "Do What U Want" but as a student in High School, I found that a lot of kids were definitely turned off just by the idea of him being in the track, therefore not even giving it a chance. I was surprised they were even aware of the pee incident. Lol.

As as for Dope, I've always seen great potiental in the sing. The lyrics and melody are quite stunning. Forget about the way it charted, if she had re-worked it a bit I think it would have a powerful punch in the face to haters a critics and would've shown her true versatility.

Um so Applause shouldn't have been a single? :awkney:

I like your ideas, but I think that the cover art should've been the mask promo picture.

I also think that Gaga should've kept R. Kelly on it simply because who gives a **** ehat people think? At the end of the day, its all about the music. I also think that Dope is fine as it is and I'm indifferent on it being a single. Gypsy totally should've been released though.

I definitely agree that Venus  should've been a single and that she should've kept the Swinefest intro to Swine and the original Aura, just polished. I still cant forgive her for that. :(

Thanks for sharing!

It's science, bitch

Thank you! :hugs: I think the mask promo picture was definitely my first choice before the image I chose. The mask picture screams fresh to me for some reason, down to the hair, lighting and color palette.

Also, I think Applause was a great single, but I do feel as though it shouldn't have been one personally. There are more gems on the record that deserved to be showcased in comparison. Best case scenario id switch Dope for Applause.

You have valid points about the cover. But for me however, I see the ARTPOP cover in more negative light. The whole "Statue immortilization" came across as the most pretentious decision she ever made. But that was just the way I felt about it.

And no, lol, you're not the only one who though Applause was a great single. I did it too. As I've said before, I just feel there are better gems to showcase on the record.

Thank you for your feedback and ideas. I love discussing ideas with other fans tbh.

But in order to get to the light we must emerge from the dark.

Add Applause as another single and I agree with the list but not sure about the order..

I live outside the space time continuum.
