Didn't she show support for it every night at artRave? :laughga: Just because she isn't tweeting or making speeches at official conferences doesn't mean that she's not showing support

I'm a fan of her because of the music, everything else is just add ons

so it doesn't really matter to me as long as it's positive to the world

Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

LGBT rights aren't the only rights that need fighting rn. And also she doesn't have to talk about it all the time. She is not an activist lol

Probably on Grindr

She's a singer/songwriter first and foremost, not an activist. Speaking out about certain causes is all well and good, but it shouldn't be taking precedence over her actual career. And yes, I do think the two can be apart. She's done plenty for gay rights for the last few years and she still is. To be honest, its done her career more harm than good. The world is shallow and doesn't want to listen to an artist who is so strongly affiliated with the gay community, for fear that it makes them gay or make others think of them as gay. I mean, it's difficult to find a straight man admit to being a fan of Cher, Madonna or Kylie (and they do have straight fans) or who will buy their music and see them on tour. There's just too much of a stigma attached to being their fan. Same goes for pretty much any pop girl, but the biggest gay icons are the hardest ones to justify being a straight fan of. A man could maybe get away with being a fan of Rihanna because she's young and considered hot, but someone older and not considered attractive is out.

Gaga needs to work harder to promote her music as something that anyone can enjoy. Not saying it has to be music that everyone will enjoy (that strategy usually fails after a while as playing into what the public want inevitably does) but whatever the music is, make it out to be something that anyone could listen to without stigma. Advertising herself to the gays gave her a lot of fans but it turned a lot of potential fans away too for they ultimately felt as if they weren't wanted. By trying to include everyone, she unintentionally did a lot of excluding. If she carries on doing that, she'll never win any new fans, it'll just be the old ones returning and eventually whittling down. It's sad that the world is like this, but stay in their minds as "an artist for the gays" too long and your career isn't going to be on the up.

The gays know Gaga's support is there. They don't require constant reassurance that she still has their back. After all, what more can she do after everything she's already done?

She doesn't have to make it obvious anymore.

Everyone knows at this point that Gags is an ally.

It doesn't matter to me. She's already made her opinions well-known and will always be known for her LGBT activism even if she doesn't show it as much as she used to.

Of course gay people don't own her, her music isn't only for gay men, and liking her music doesn't mean you are necessarily gay. But her music has always had a gay sensibility, and I don't agree that she isn't writing music for gay people anymore. ARTPOP isn't as explicitly queer as Born This Way…but it's still a pretty gay record.

She kicked off ARTPOP by filming a lyric video at a gay night club, the video featured famous drag queens and a drag king. She dressed as the original gay icon Judy Garland in her GMA performance. The song Donatella reference her gay friends. She promoted the record with a prime time television special that featured duets with Elton John and RuPaul. ARTPOP is super gay, and I have no doubt that her next record will be as gay as her previous three records.

How is the ARTPOP (the music) super gay?

Well. It's not because she doesn't talk about it, that she doesn't care. As simple as that.

I honestly don't care. But if she lessens her affiliation with the LGBT community this era, maybe the GP wouldn't be embarrassed to buy her stuff. She's seen as a LGBT supporter, not that it's bad. I really hope we get back when Gaga was once loved by all, gays, straights, etc., ans not weird out.

Is this seriously a question? :air:

She has done so much for the lgbt community to last a lifetime tbh ... why is this even being discussed?

I'm glad she is no longer talking about LGBT every single time

How is the ARTPOP (the music) super gay?

The short politically incorrect awnser is; dance music specifically by a female vocalist is inherently gay.

Specifically

Will.I.Am.In.The.Closet produced a song called Fashion, a song about the only industry in the world which is run by gay men. Lyrically she embraces flamboyant "gay" slang on multiple songs (now serve Pluto, there is life on Mars where the couture is beyond beyond, im so fab, etc.) G.U.Y. is a power bottom anthem, and it's music video features a cameo by the only gay late night talk show host in America, Andy Cohen. I'm not sure how music can get much gayer then an electronic dance song about Donatella Versace that includes the line ask your gay friends their advice, before you get a spray tan on holiday in Taipei.

And it wasn't just the music. She promoted ARTPOP  by dressing as a drag king in Berlin to perform Gypsy. She got naked and sung Venus at a G-A-Y nightclub. Filmed a lyric video with drag queens at Micky's. Turned even her straight fans into Friends of Dorothy on Good Morning America. Performed ARTPOP with Elton John and Fashion with RuPaul.

Born This Way wasn't the start of Gaga being an incredibly gay artist and it wasn't the end of her being an incredibly gay artist.
