Not that I should need to state this for the record but I probably should considering where this conversation is taking place. Discussing Katy Perry's legitimacy on a Gaga forum with Gaga fans can unfortunately render my opinion invalid and I have to say that before I even considered myself a fan of Gagas I was not very keen on Katy. So not one ounce of my lack of respect for her as a pop artist can be attributed to me liking Lady Gaga. Just have to say that first.

Look, I think Katy has a couple of alright pop songs that I dont mind. Enough to count on one hand. But overall everything shes released to me is as hollow as pop can get, not even just her musical output but who she is as a pop culture figure and everything inbetween. I don't respect her music, I don't like it, and I don't respect her. Shes nothing imo. I don't care if she writes it all by herself. That doesn't mean anything to me if I don't respect the output.

In Katys discographie are so many songwriters, she hides behind them. But Gaga just work with producers.

It's true tho, Katy Perry wrote several songs on her own for her first album and Gaga worked with other people, doesn't change the fact that Gaga has been more involved in her biggest HITS than Katy with hers. 

Thinking of you is one of the best songs ever and it was written only by Katy Perry which is very impressive   But so is You and I and it was also written by Gaga alone.

​I think what isn't Stupid Ho, Anaconda, Beez In the Trap, Super Bass, Girls Fall Like Dominoes, Fly, Truffle Butter, etc. is incredibly generic hackneyed balladry and verses with zero soul and zero authenticity. I think shes the least authentic popular artist out right now next to Katy Perry. But people argue adamantly for her and I think shes pretty despicable. Not to mention, Come On A Cone is one of the worst songs i've ever listened to, its really just ****ing awful. Romanse Revenge as well. But like I said, I don't want to get into it further. I really could have an argument about why I think Nicki Minaj is so despicable but im not down, itll be too exhausting. People are rabid when it comes to defending her and im not up for it right now.

Sia is garbage to me, is she the worst artist out right now? No. But I dislike her voice and I dislike her musical output. Theres a lot of music out there, better music.

In my opinion Katy Perry is just a glorified version of Hannah Montana or the Jonas brothers, every single aspect is designed to make as much money as possible. She's like a cheap perfume, designed to quickly grab your attention with ultra sweet fizzy fun top notes so you buy it instantly. But bring her home and there's nothing beyond that. But it's okay because she will be recreated countless times so people will continue to buy more once they get bored. It's souless and artificial. Katy perry is McDonald's and Gaga is gourmet.
