Luc 4,776
It's disgusting that the Allies didn't free the gay people. Just... disgusting. And LGBTQ almost never got attention for what happened in the second worldwar to them. Okay, it was mentioned with exactly one word in my schoolbooks for history class. It just saddens me. SKANK 14,288
The Nazi's were interested in exterminating homos-xuality, which of course meant imprisoning homos-xuals. Nazi's sent homos-xuals to camps were extermination through labor was the policy. Nazi's may have wished to first "change homos-xual behavior" for the greater good of Germanic society, but to say that the Nazi's were more interested in changing the behavior of homos-xuals then they were in murdering them seems dishonest. It directly conflicts with the statistics we have which show gay men died in concentration camps at higher rates then any minority other then Jews. The Nazi's decimated the vibrant gay culture in Berlin. They rounded up and exterminated thousands of gay men. Heinrich Himmler compared homos-xuals to weeds that should be put in a pile and burned. In my eyes that constitutes a plan to exterminate homos-xuals. I recommend everyone see the documentary Paragraph 175, it features interviews with gay men who survived the camps. It is crushing to watch.

I was told by an employee at the National Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. years ago that homos-xuals had the lowest survival rate in the camps, but I'm having trouble finding a source for that right now other then references to research done by the historian Rüdiger Lautmann, who concluded homos-xuals had the highest death rates among prisoners. The sentiment of my original post remains the same regardless of the accuracy of that specific statistic.
