Classical Singer praised Lady Gaga's Oscars performance
Classical singer extraordinaire Catherine Bott delivers the verdict on Lady Gaga:

Z-The-World-of-Catherine-Bott.jpg

"Lady Gaga has the vocal quality of a mezzo. It was very convincing… I would think that several million people didn't know she could sing like that."

·Gaga's technical ability was also singled out: "She used portamento - gliding smoothly between the notes, very romantic phrasing - which is usually the province of straight opera singers."

"Most people who sing musical theatre now don't know anything about that - they only know either to sing very, very loud, or very very quiet."

Sorry, The Queen of Musicals Julie Andrews loved Gaga.  The people dont know Sondheim  and I never heard anything from him. he is just an old guy from broadway. and Broadway  is well known for having bad singers.  Its the poor brother of the Operas

A real Opera Singer praised Gaga, and that's all that matters to me: http://www.classicfm.com/concerts-events/oscars/news/lady-gaga-oscars-performance/

:smh: Gawd, give it up. Nobody agrees with Sondheim's evaluation of the oscars performance but lets not be ignorant here. You shouldn't be proud of not knowing Sondheim, he is one of the most influential theater composers ever.

I mean, I don't think everyone should be expected to be familiar with him, but lets not encourage people to proudly wave around their ignorance when it comes to icons.

I'm glad Gaga got praised by an Opera Singer. She deserves the praise. It's ok to disagree with Sondheim while still respecting him as an influential composer.

Frankly I think it is extremely disrespectful of you to be trashing musical theater in regards to Gaga's tribute to one of the greatest and most influential musicals of all time. If you don't like musical theater, fine, nobody cares. But you can't trash Sondheim for expressing his opinions in a rude fashion and then go ahead and act even worse.

You obviously or you wouldn't be so desperate to trash talk him and spam links to positive articles about Gaga's performance everywhere.

If you don't even know who he is, why do you hold his opinion to such importance? Acknowledge it, express your alternate opinion and move on.

Frankly, I'm happy to end conversation with you.

I really am only doing myself a disservice by continuing to engage in conversation with an insecure 12 year old troll. Hopefully when you turn 13/14/15 you will become a little more mature and approach things with a little more tact.

The fact that you managed to string me along in an argument, not about how we both like the oscars performance, but how you refuse to even show even a hint of respect for such a renowned composer is truly impressive. Congrats and goodbye :applause:

Snobheim will just get some more people to watch her performance, and it makes it look like she's being attacked unfairly by a cranky old theater snob. The GP is totally on her side, as are most experts. This is good fodder for her for a song or a video or something too. Ill be curious to see if she does anything with it.
