what's happening to the pop music world

You're just asking this now, when Katy Perry has been around for how many years?

So excited for 1989 :legend:

Shake it Off is good, but I'm hoping for stronger tracks on the album, and I know she'll deliver. Her album tracks tend to be fantastic.

I still hope there's at least some country influence in there. I'm gonna miss those songs, Red was a perfect mix of pop and country.

Hmm, haven't seen this side of the people around here. I mean, it's okay to not like a song, but what people have been saying is just so stupid.

Big Machine and Republic Records have pulled off an unprecedented feat, as Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" has closed the entire Top 40 panel in less than 24 hours--a first in Pop radio history. Charlie Walk, Gary Spangler and team, having knocked down Pop in record time, are already preparing a repeat performance at Hot AC next week.

Alongside this unquestionable triumph at these formats comes an intriguing question: Why has Country radio so far made the choice not to jump in with its biggest artist? As of noon today, only 10 Country stations have played the song even once; only WSIX Nashville and WNSH New York have spun it more than once.

Will the Country format ignore its biggest artist's new work and attempt to "A&R" her career, suppressing any attempt at stylistic exploration? Doesn't her legion of fans get a vote?

For the record, Taylor fans have already made their voices heard, as the single and album 1989, now in preorder and due 10/27, have both hit #1 at iTunes.

apparently its getting played every our at major radio statios

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. It's a pop album, no hint of country, and she has said so, that it's a complete departure from country. People turn into country music stations to hear country or, at the least, pop/country, not a pop song. She doesn't expect something like that and probably expects it to be the exception, not the norm, for those country music stations that do play it.

That song is catchy and the video is cute.

I should add that I actually like Taylor going the pop route as her last couple of album's were poppish compared to other country music acta. I should know because country music is played constantly where I'm at.

Or because they just don't like the song :awkney:
there's not liking a song and then there's doing the absolute most.
Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
