Whispering 18,865
I find the opposite happening far more but I guess that's all a matter of perception. Nah, just follow the threads in the Entertainment section for a while. One whole mess in the last Taylor thread was started by a super Taylor stan attacking everything about Gaga. All it takes is one or two people that start the attacks on Gaga to start an outright war. That's why these threads end up being so long...not because people are "pressed", but because the stans of others get so defensive that they turn their frustration towards Gaga. It is off topic and if we could stop it from happening, we would have much better discussion as a whole.

Whispering 18,865
refer back to my post as I added more. And even in moments where the other side does bring up Gaga, it's often to highlight that one side will tear down an artist for a specific reason but completely give Gaga the free pass for basically doing the same, which while I still don't agree with it, it IS a valid criticism to point out on terms of Stan behavior and hypocrisy. Which happens in almost every thread where there are differing opinions and it never works. It is off-topic and does nothing for that person's argument or to back up their opinion, other than making it a discussion about Gaga and some other artist...that Gaga literally has nothing to do with! For example, I just listed other artists who write revenge songs (and even full albums) in another Taylor thread, but did it without mentioning Gaga. It's really quite easy to do and works better than starting a war. I was going to bring up Katy's many songs about her past love affairs and relationships, but decided that would be another comment that might be considered to be flamebaity and would end up driving the topic and discussion off a cliff. lol
FameHookah 4,595
in few words, the song is about gaga and her relationship with the fame/music industry and her fans using religious metaphors ( the song has different meanings). Jesus is the fame/music industry and her fans Bloody Mary is Gaga. She is saying how outsiders to the relationship between Mary and jesus will judge their relationship even if they loved each others, it is about how loving someone can make it seem you are worshipping them and they become for you like a religion and only time will tell how their relationship will be remembered, and she tell how people will always see her as a bad person whether she is good or not. She is trapped in her fame she is inside the monster she wanted so badly ( the music industry ) and her only light in the dark are her fans that whatever happens will be those who know her as a person and those who understand her art even if others are trying to destroy her. i know i'm not talking about this...but about the meaning of the song which was carried out by the video itself ( that is a masterpiece artistical wise ) it seems i'm talking to a group of 12 yo katycats...embarassing. it seems that you know nothing about pop culture... Omg i thought that the inteligent monsters left after BTW but thank you for this! This forum acts more like Katydaily or taylordaily more and more It feels like im talking with the clueless GP at times telephone is about a simple line of meanings but explained through trivial metaphors traveling abreast of purely pop themes. Gaga is talking once again about the fame and her fear about it inserting controversial pop culture imagery. The industry is represented as this awful elite that create those "manufactured" pop artist to appeal to the masses with their catchy songs inducing people to buy their records! gaga here is talking in a metaphorical way about the stereotype of a pop star (making a sort of parody of herself) who is set to "kill" the masses warped in an american flag (which represent the elite par excellence in the pop imagery )... she is saying stop calling me there is no one at home...i'm busy...sorry i cannot answer...she is like a brainless robot who do anything the industry is saying her to do ( like "killing" the masses serving "FAST FOOD" music with honey ) she won't answer to none others! this is the point of the song gaga is talking about the bad relationship between the artist who is not free to completely be himself and the industry. O - M - G SLAY I ****ing LOVE YOU thank you! Educate these basics plz WTF is MDNA

Yes, I feel sad when I read all the Taylor bashing but I would NEVER bring Gaga into the discussion, because we're talking about Taylor, not Gaga. There's no point in comparing them because they are both extremely different artists with nothing in common. They're both unique ! This thread was to discuss Taylor's album and whether or not it's overrated. Simple as that. But now it's a discussion about Gaga and her lyrics being superior to Taylor's. This is getting ridiculous tbh. Why can't people just stay on topic ???
RBNLM 1,640
I'm sorry, I know talking to me must severely lower your most certainly higher IQ and extensive knowledge of everything pop culture. ;( I'll just go back to my stickers and tea cups with my middle school homies.good boy there is a lot to learn looking once again at your argomantation. ByeBye49 161
I used to love it, now I think it's just a good album.

Jay.P 2,336
It's definitely not a bad album, there are good songs on it. However, they are not masterpieces and I don't think it's the album of the year or flawless as it's being called by many... it's not that special really. The thing is, everybody loves Taylor, no one has anything against her. She's a sweetheart, writes relatable songs, and appeals to everyone. Unless she does something to put the public off, her releases are always going to be anticipated. When someone has that much positivity around them everything they release will be considered good quality. When the same thing is being said over and over again, people believe it. Also, since it's being compared to ARTPOP, I'd like to point out that the album was surrounded by negativity and hate by the media and the public before it was even released, so that does affect sales and overall opinion on the album regardless of its true quality. Do you hear that? It's poison.
hsweezy 0
how many weeks exactly will it take for monsters to stop being pressed about Taylor's success ! More than a million copies were bought in the first week and you call it over-rated! what kind of logic is that?! I wouldn't have a problem if you said you listened to the album and didn' like it even if you thought it was pure trash but to call it overrated .. well apparently a lot of people disagree with you. i Love the Lady 165
I think that album is really good, but I liked her before she went pop so maybe you're just not a fan
Quark 7,098
Yeah, that is why is being compared to Thriller, right? Considering the album hasn't been out a week yet and you're already calling it overrated is hate in my eyes. Clearly many people do like the album, it's not like the album is called good without a visible appreciation, people like it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's overrated, it simply means you don't like it.

Mariano 958
The album is great. When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe the album is full of lyrics like this, it's amazingly written, yet still relatable. Basic is something like This is how we do / Birthday. Just because Taylor is relatable doesn't make her basic.. I don't see how it's overrated when its score is 75 which si basically the perfect score for the album.. I can understand why you'd say BEYONCE is overrated (it also deserves around 75) but yeah 1989 is fairly rated. People are just very excited now, the excitement will be over in 1-2 weeks. It happens with every big artist.
