It's not that different. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be insinuating people could dress up as a woman to enter a female changing room to pick out "victims" to potentially assault? They would not do such a thing if there were multiple people in the changing room. The victim would need to be isolated. Somebody could lurk around the changing rooms and wait until they are confident there is only one person in there and assault them.

I mean again, although phones and cameras are explicitly banned in changing rooms (at least where I live), I'm sure I could covertly set up my iphone so it recorded other guys getting changed in the bathroom. Again, that's not something I would ever do, but it's possible.

I'm not saying there isn't a potential for people to exploit this and falsely claim their gender identity in order to creep on people of the opposite s-x, but that would be an extreme minority who are likely to be caught if the are just hanging around inside a changing room or acting inappropriately. 

I've read articles about creeps who have a hidden camera in their shoe so they can look up girls skirts.  There are creeps everywhere and people who are willing to break the laws, harass people and act inappropriately in these sorts of circumstances.

I think you would find that there would be more cases of transgendered people being harassed in toilets and changing rooms than people dressing up as the opposite gender to harass people in toilets and changing rooms.

I think they did the right thing  Also, I think if you are transgendered then maybe you should have some proof from a doctor or something to prevent the issue of cisgendered people trying to abuse loop holes and such

Im not gonna lie tho. If i was a woman and a man came into the washroom id feel creaped out... Especially since women are more vulnerable to predators

The article implies that the transgender woman was just doing what anyone else does in a locker room, and the woman started ranting about it. Making a separate locker room would just make transgender people feel bad about their gender, which is something they struggle with daily anyways.

​and thats why i agree with what planet fitness is doing as i've said before.

 

but i'm just acknowledging the bit of added danger some women might feel from this. and btw its not like its hard for a crazy person to just blend in and not get caught. and even if you eventually report the person and they get kicked out or banned its not like they cant attack a woman outside of the gym.

 

there could be someone who does it at first only to peep on women  while naked but being that close could build up the obsession which can lead to harm outside of the gym.

Also, I don't think it matters how many people do this, it's about the safeguards in place to prevent it happening, and the structures in operation which enable people to (or dissuade them from) reporting problems.

​It's not far-fetched at all. And whether it is or not, it's something which needs to be safeguarded against.

You ask "how even did she know the other woman was trans". She didn't know or even think the other person was a transwoman, she thought that person was a man.

The person in question, Carlotta Sklodowska, has said themselves that they understand why the woman thought that:

According to Sklodowska, she wore leggings and a baggy t-shirt during both trips to the gym. She said many people tell her she looks like a man, and she could see why Cormier would see her body structure as masculine.

"It's obvious, even from the back," Sklodowska said.
