Bradley 59,157 Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I am one who watch a lot of movies and every time I come across a great movie, let it be musical, action, science-fiction or whatever category it is, I always thought how good it would be to let Gaga feature in it. I initially thought Gaga was given the chance to perform at the Oscars because she was going to perform "Til It Happens To You" but she didn't. Note that most of the performers that night were given the chance to perform because they were somehow featured in a movie. John Legend and Common - Selma, Rita Ora - Beyond the Lights, Adam Levine - Begin Again, The Lonely Island and everyone else - The Lego Movie, etc. Despite Gaga's great acting in Marry the Night, Machete Kills (well it wasn't her fault that the movie flopped), she was still not given any opportunities to act in any movie. This is literally her first opportunity to really shine in the movie industry. So they knew they definitely needed an awesome vocalist to do The Sound of Music tribute. Usual award shows would think of Beyonce, Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige perhaps, I mean with all due respect to the artists below, no one would consider the pop stars like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney Spears or Taylor Swift to do it, right? And if you consider Gaga to be a pop star among these ladies, SHE JUST STOOD OUT OF THEM. So what I'm trying to say is that someone must have acknowledged Gaga's voice and thus invited her to perform. What she did at the Oscars was so different from her pop roots, and let us be honest, no one can rock EDM, jazz and orchestra like Lady Gaga does. Someone must have showed a lot of videos of Gaga's previous slayage performances to the academy to make yesterday night happen. I mean Lady Gaga for The Sound of Music is the last thing a GP would believe to happen. Or maybe it's just Bobby doing a good job, I don't know.
