Paper Gangsta 6,693 Posted February 15, 2015 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Ellinor Olovsdotter, known by her stage name Elliphant (born October 8, 1985) is a Swedish singer and rapper. Elliphant's sound was initially created together with the Swedish producer-duo ‘Jungle’, which consists of Tim Deneve & Ted Krotkiewski. The music they created together caught the attention of TEN Music Group and Elliphant signed to TEN in 2011. BIOGRAPHY Elliphant was born in Stockholm, Sweden. During a trip to Paris she met Tim Deneve (member of the Swedish producer-duo ‘Jungle’). Her career began with the release of her debut single "Tekkno Scene" in 2012. The track, which featured Adam Kanyama, was positively received and was featured in the soccer video game, FIFA 13. Comparisons were drawn between Elliphant's song and a M.I.A. track. Following the release of her first single, Elliphant released the track Down on Life, with the Official Music Video featuring in December 2012 on Pitchfork's YouTube channel. The music video went on to secure over 1 million views on the channel. The success of the song was recognised by many, with Katy Perry tweeting that it was "one of the most bad ass music videos I've seen in a long time". Pitchfork said the song showed off "a faint smidge of softness", when compared to her first two singles, Tekkno Scene and Ciant Hear it. During the same article, it was announced that she would be releasing her first EP, which would be self-titled. In January 2013, she released her first (self-titled) EP. It had four songs and a remix, including the tracks "Ciant Hear It" and Down on Life. The remaining tracks were two new songs, "Make it Juicy" and "In the Jungle", and the fifth track was a remix of "In the Jungle". Following the release of her first EP, she stated in an interview with Idolator that she was signed by Dr. Luke's label and that her upcoming Swedish album would be called A Good Idea. In the summer of 2013, Elliphant stated that she had worked in the studio with Skrillex in Stockholm.[On 9 October 2013, she released her debut album in her native Sweden, titled A Good Idea. The album featured a number of artists and producers, including Niki & the Dove. It also included the hit "Down on Life". Also included on the album is "More Fire", a collaboration with fellow Swedish artist Niki & The Dove. She is set to perform at the Mad Decent Block Party in September. In the autumn 2014 she is available with the single "One More" which she performs with the Danish singer MØ. Elliphant went on Charli XCX's Girl Power North America Tour as one of the opening acts in fall 2014. I saw her at Positivus here in Latvia. She is awesome. The fact that she performed on the last day on 2pm and still managed to get 90% of the crowd to jump and dance - amazing.
