Why does she need a female officer? Just to cater to the ridiculous conditions set by her faith?

asking a female officer take a picture seems like a really easy quick solution to avoid a messy situation like this but i guess if one wasnt available she just has to deal with it. not sure how hard it is to find a female officer out there but w/e. i wasnt there when this happened so i dont really know

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

The main point is more big, if everyone in the USA from different religions, backgrounds, faiths or whatever start to demand things like that, the list and the asks would never finish.

Plus it's not that they asked to her to stay totally naked.

the list can grow as big as it wants to, just say no to every single one of them.

in my opinion this isnt really a big deal to just ask a female officer to take the picture but now she is taking it to court and if they somehow rule in her favor(doubt it) then yes that ruling will be used by other religions to ask for special treatment as well. if they just said ok lets find a chick to get this over with smoothly and quickly this wouldnt be a problem and we'd never hear about it.

Exactly.

Of course, but consider that not all the police stations have female cops, or maybe in a particular time they aren't available or with another shift, so it's not that they must have a woman police officer just in case that a woman with the burqa could be stopped.

The lawsuit has no sense from the start because there aren't that kind of laws-rules for burqa-hijab in there... But obviously she did it for making the news and having the approval of those people who are agree with her like happened in here.

i know they dont all have female officers in the station all the time thats why i'm not really saying if she has a case although i doubt she has one. if there was no female officer there then fine but if there was one there and they just flat out told her no then i'm afraid a judge might give her the ruling she wants and then there will be rules for the hijab which can lead to more rules made when other religious people use her case to justify more special treatment/rules.

i just think i there was a female officer there(none of us really know) then they should have just let the female cop take the picture. no fuss and no publicity and no lawsuit. could have been really simple imo

You have to remember it is an article - not a court of law where all the facts are brought out. But if she was left with this head piece as she wished than she could of strangled herself and than the Police Department would of been Liable.  The Police Department is looking out for her welfare and following protocol. Remember she is the one that put herself their.

Very one sided article of what occured.

"A hijab, which covers the head and neck but leaves the face clear, is one of several types of headscarves that Muslim women can employ if they wish to use a veil. "

Also, may I add, I have never been in jail, or did anything like this.

But, I know  non-muslim people that have gone through this. And what they have told me it is embarrassing of what happens -   So, it's not religion thing  - she just wants to disguise it as such.

People in this thread :what:

She shouldn't have driven with a suspended license, obviously, but due processes are such because they protect people during the ENTIRE process of ... being processed. (for lack of a less redundant word :smh: ) It's simply a bad argument to say that those who break the law (accidentally or not) are not entitled to any sort of empathy or basic humane treatment because of it :wtf:

Shes not using her religion as an excuse to break the law at all or get special treatment, she just wanted to be respected (and all people should get that from the police and government in general). You could argue "safety protocol", but as far as I know you just have to show your face and as stated several times here already, her face is still definitely visible, so it wasn't that big of a problem to allow it in the first place. I wouldn't be arguing so strongly if her having to remove her hijab was not a big deal. I'm pretty sure that it is not like shes just slightly awkward or embarrassed without it on. She wouldn't put up such a fuss if that were the case

Finally, If the police department did not have a female officer present, that's one thing, and she might just lose the case...but if they did and simply denied her, well,

When was she treated inhumanely? :awkney:

Wouldn't other police officers (possibly males) see the mugshot even if it was shot by a woman?

Do you hear that? It's poison.

I didn't actually say she was treated "inhumanely". Just because the antonym of humane is inhumane doesn't mean that the absence of humane treatment has the same modern connotation as "inhumane" does. This isn't the holocaust or something and im pretty sure no one thinks this is the worst thing to ever happen to someone. :smh: Also, I used Empathy and Humane treatment as synonymous terms, which is why my point still stands... Empathy meaning understanding and the police disregarding that (and any other technicalities) for the sake of a formality.

That's really all I have to say about this.

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
