What's the point of this? According to the internet it will cost over $7500.  You could get a nice upright or baby grand without the digital stuff. :spin:

you basically described an electric piano

still, this is just basically an electric piano. Nothing groundbreaking. It's all hyped bull****

Look at the description carefully, everyone seems to miss this.   Each key has a touch sensitive surface that can act as a continuous controller, which in music terms means that you can map it so that stroking the key in different ways will cause different effects. THAT is groundbreaking and has some really interesting possibilities.

You might have for example a continuous controller wheel or slider also on your keyboard that you can assign to an individual midi sound. Usually by default they are like a pitch bend. So now imagine that every single key has a touch sensitive surface that you can assign to any midi sound or effect that you want, in addition to pressing it to make a note. So you could play a note and then slide your finger to pitch bend it, or any other synth effect. Sliding on the key could cause a modulation shift in the assigned synth. Etc.

Their website is actually kinda confusing.  They appear to have two products, the "Alpha Piano" which basically uses advanced technology to simulate the feel of a concert Grande, then the MPiano which is the electronic piano which seems to have touch sensitive key surfaces that allow them to be used as continuous midi controllers.

or something like that.
