garnite 8
I haven't seen such pathetic trolling in ages yeah. i'm trolling when i say islam and muslims literally aren't the same thing. it's just trolling. everyone can see it plain as day that i'm a troll. every one here sees that as pathetic trolling, and every single person who reads what i say here agrees that such a statement is clearly pathetic trolling. it's just trolling. Gagamel 3,410
Kind of. It's like Christianity. I can judge the religion because it does say some pretty terrible things. I can't judge every individual Christian though as they each can follow it in their own personal way that denounces said awful things. Indeed... Christianity's image is nowhere near perfect, yet everyone is against Islam

Gagamel 3,410
He's right though. He's not trolling. Just like Communism is an idea but Communists are the people who follow it but people don't always represent or follow an idea exactly as it is. People pick and choose. They were talking about the IMAGE of Islam, which is created by the Muslims, they weren't talking about Islam itself. Either garnite is trolling or just dumb and couldn't figure out what the conversation was even about.
lego 44,165
I can give you a hundred verses and you'll still probably defend it. Yes obliviously you can, the difference is that in those they are not killing people by the millions based on their book. Hundreds? You can post 5,6 same verses taken out of context from some antiislamic website which are collected in that order on purpose. When you search things with that intention, you will find them. By millions? Receipts? Whether they belong to terrorist group, paramilitary or a regular army or police - religious extremists can be found from each religion. Even Buddism. Check buddhist monks killing of muslims in Burma. Check Rwanda genocide where Christian priests and nuns were involved in slaughtering of almost 1 million people while whole world was watching, check Bosnian war and Srebrenica etc. I can go on, but I'm on my phone. Luiz 4,253
its interesting how when islam was powerful and in control of north africa and spain and all that they were considered to be a very progressive people. they had like a whole philosophy thing going on and were into studying the old greek philosophers and everything but somewhere along the lines things got all ****ed up. i've filled my brain with so much info that it feels like i've failed to retain a lot of the stuff i learned in religion class so i'm not sure when or how muslims in the middle east became a struggling area. i'm guessing its due to the reconquista and the ottoman empire becoming the "sick man of europe"(not sure how that happened anymore). but obviously the middle east became impoverished in some places. i always hear about how rich some people in the middle east are but get fed footage of the poor war torn areas so i'm just going to guess the wealth disparity is insane. when people have corrupt governments and are living in poverty the one thing that can never be corrupt in their eyes is god. god is the only hope struggling people hang onto so they adhere to it strictly because its their only safe haven. they become zealous in their belief in this religion and follow these thousand year old set of guidelines word for ****ing word. then that way of life is passed down to heir children and when you indoctrinate children with this stuff they grow up with this misguided world view. then they see western countries waging war in their country and turn to what their parents generations before them have turned to for help, religion. their holy book was written in a time and place of a lot of persecution and hostility. muhammad was, from what i remember, persecuted against for his beliefs and forced out of his home and he responded how most people of that time(and even this time) would respond, with violence. so a lot of the quran has scripture that we view as violent and aggressive. without an understanding of the context of the time when the book was written and of course there will be muslims who also might not understand the context in which the book was written but this aggressive interpretation of the scripture gets passed on down. and today with all the poverty and war in the middle east they have again turned to what they've always known and thats islam and this crappy interpretation of the quran. its like "hey look this is what the quran says oh and by the way that drone killed your father last week so join ISIS" . this is just my theory based off bad history(pot killed my memory ) most likely so if someone can pick this apart i'd welcome it. oh yeah i forgot to mention the part about how sam harris pointed out how jews have violent scripture as well but they arent engaging in terrorist acts left and right and flying planes into buildings. i dont think the jews are living in as ****ed up a place as muslims are in the middle east i mean they have US drones dropping over there and ****ed up leaders which i dont think israel has had much of but i could be wrong. I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Hundred and not them taken out of context, its blatantly spelled out within Quran and the Hadith. Are you seriously asking for the receipts of those who are killed in the name of islam. I am aware that religious extremists are found within every religion, the difference is the scale on which it happens. We going to boo

Sara 1,144
Is there really an image to ruin? Imo this fits perfectly with the image of Islam.Well it also fits well into Old Testament Christianity. I don't think we can definitely say that Islam promotes violence more than Christianity. (???) Both have strong peaceful messages too, and yet tremendous violence has been done in the name of both religions.I do think that there is more violence done in the name of Islam at this moment in time, but I think that's just because there are huge areas of Islam that are stuck where Christians were stuck in the Dark Ages, and they will eventually (hopefully) come out of that.
