I am rewatching and DYING at how she got started

"I was working on this verse for like a month"

I was gonna spit my verse...AT THE CYPHER!"

And when she spits the part of the first verse:

Im not a dawn diva

I'm beyond ya dawn skeezers

I get cake from quick chicks with long heaters

:legend:

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

This is just flat-out unfortunate. For someone calling someone else "completely and utterly misinformed and ignorant", yikes. What a disaster.

And I'm guessing you're white, right?

I think it is, because she's using her race to try and negate Iggy's success. Let's say, for arguments sake, that it IS because of Iggy's color that she is more successful. What should we do about that? Make Azealia more successful because she's black? That's ridiculous, and oppressing to all black people.  I'm not saying oppression is not out there. But sulking and wanting the roles reversed won't help anything. She needs to kill it like Nicki, Beyonce, Jay Z, and so on and so forth. Did they probably deal with black stereotypes and set-backs? Definitely. Did they overcome it and rise above it all. You betcha. And I have an insane amount of respect for them for that.

And I don't speak as a white person talking about a black person.  I speak as a human being that wants equality for everyone.  And the first step to this is destroying those stereotypes and social norms through hard work and actions.  And that goes for ALL people, not a specific race.  I hope for the day people don't give a **** about color.

Now the album is #31 in Hip-Hop US, up 16 places since the interview  :lolgaga:

but what did Nicki do to make it or Beyonce? they had tho be more white to appeal to a bigger audience. At least at the start.

Besides an extremely superficial and simplistic understanding (if you can call it that) of anything she said whatsoever, I always find the perspective of "come on, just get over racism" aimed at black people incredibly entertaining.

"What should we do about that?" Um, maybe acknowledge it, discuss it, address it, and fix it? Not just accept it and tell the people affected by it to just work harder and get past it? I don't know why you think sweeping it under the rug and telling black people to get over it is the best way to handle this situation. Methinks it's because it doesn't affect you, so you don't think it's important/valid. And the poor black girl saying the system is unfair is in the wrong, not the system itself.

But honestly, you've mischaracterized her argument in your posts. If you can't understand what she's saying, go back and read other posts in this thread so you can get a more nuanced understanding. I'm unsure if you've even understood at a basic level what she's saying.

A really great interview and i see more of her viewpoint on it now and respect it more, however she still needs to fix the problem they are telling her to fix multiple times throughout the video yet she just shuts off, I hope she takes their advice and gets off of social media and actually put it in the music or literature.

Yes, but they also went for the more "pop" route.  But like I said, Jay Z and Kanye made it.  If she wants to make it, and not delve into pop, she should just keep doing what she's doing.  But she shouldn't try and discredit other artists to make excuses for herself.  Her and Iggy don't even have the same type of music

She's not trying to discredit Iggy, shes saying that she doesnt belong to hip hop and she doesnt make real hip hop, shes just a mockery and she should be in pop music instead. And not be praised as the new queen of rap and all of that **** because shes not.

To begin, you're being a ****ing prick.  I'm not being rude to you, so why be rude to me?  Just because I have a different opinion than you doesn't mean I have barely any understanding on this.  I actually do a lot of work for equality of all kinds, including racial equality.  And one of the biggest things I stand for is being strong, proud, and relentless.

I've made COUNTLESS statuses and discussions about racial issues, and constantly put it out there for discussion and awareness.

I DO understand what she is saying, however, I feel sad that she looks at it like this, since she's letting the fact that Iggy is more successful than her bother her that much.  And it just makes her sound silly, to me, that she's putting it all on race, which is racist in itself.

I'm not saying we should "shove it under the rug." I want the opposite.  But I also believe actions speak larger than words.  She needs to go for it and prove herself, like so many who have been oppressed before.  And yes, she should continue to speak about black rights if that is what she is passionate about.  But attacking Iggy and other white rappers is far from being proactive.  To me, it's being the opposite, since she's saying her race is what's making her less successful, when she should focus on those of her race that HAVE made it, and aspire to be a role model for other black girls.  Once we as people push forward and destroy stereotypes through our actions, we won't need to talk about race.  Since we will make it an issue that is non existent.

She's not trying to discredit Iggy, shes saying that she doesnt belong to hip hop and she doesnt make real hip hop, shes just a mockery and she should be in pop music instead. And not be praised as the new queen of rap and all of that **** because shes not.

Exactly.  That's valid. Iggy's music, in my opinion, isn't real hip hop.  I'd classify it as pop.  HOWEVER, is that Iggy's fault? Nope.  She's making the music she wants to make.  And Azealia attacking Iggy, quite rudely and personally, for becoming successful for the music she's making is ludicrous.  It's not Iggy's fault that she's loved by many people  What does she want Iggy to do, stop rapping because she's confusing Americans on what real hip hop is? That's ridiculous.

I dont think shes making the music she wants to make tbh, like i really feel she's just a marketing product and she just do what the label says. And tbh shes just the image of culture appropriation by being the most famous at the moment and thats why she's part of the issue.

And that's a fair opinion to have! Most stars today are like that unfortunately :( However, we don't know that for sure, and neither does Azealia, so I just think her calling her out is pretty rude. She should let her music speak for itself and not call other people's music out.

All in All I REALLY hope she was listening to Ebro because he had some good things to say about and to her about letting the music speak and not feeling TOO much about things that she says stupid things to counteract any good points she may have.

It's not because you have a different opinion, it's because you're completely mischaracterizing her whole argument. If you did understand, you wouldn't be attributing arguments to her that she never made. Furthermore, you're clearly very confused about the fact that 95% of the relevant portion of the interview, she's criticizing the way society has treated Iggy, and not Iggy herself. In the interview, the only real comments she ever made directly about Iggy herself were about "runaway slave master", that she doesn't believe Iggy is excellent, and that Iggy is boring to her. Everything else was about the way society has reacted to Iggy. In your posts, you have constantly mischaracterized these as criticisms of Iggy when they clearly are not. That's a pretty basic distinction to have missed. And that's just the beginning of things I could criticize in your posts.

Why am I a prick? You came in this thread with guns blazing saying that she was misinformed and ignorant, while making egregious errors in basic a--lysis of what she was saying. You want to make a strong statement like you did? Go ahead. If making a strong statement about how you're absolutely wrong and your assertions have absolutely no basis in the source makes me a prick, I'm a prick.

Did you see her twitter :dead: She legitimately said she wanted to throw a bottle of piss at Iggy... It is foolish to say that she hasn't attacked Iggy personally for making the music she had made. like I said from the start, I agree society can oppress black people and other people of color. I just think bringing that into Iggy's success and her own success trivializes the issue.

Yes. Fancy was popular because of the chorus. It was catchy as ****.  Then, after that exploded, people took notice to Iggy. Just like Nicki exploded onto the scene through rapping on other people's songs and then coming out with her own solo stuff.  Nicki made it, so why can't Azealia? She's using her color as an excuse and a crutch, and it's sad to see. She needs to rise above it.

You're so ignorant. How old are you, where do you live?
