She is an artist, it takes time to create something

Rihanna is a commercial singer, she has a team who makes songs for her, her only purpose is to make money

Releasing a new album every year (or releasing at a rigid time like Taylor Swift or Xtina back in the day) stifles an artist's creativity, in my opinion. If you're working to a strict schedule, you can't be creative - schedules are the antidote to creativity. When JT fans had that big 7 year break between albums, Justin said: "You can't tell someone to create a masterpiece and have it ready by next week. As I focus on creating masterpieces, it'll be ready when it's ready." Partly the reason why Rihanna's recent material has been awful (to me, anyway) is because it was far too rushed and her label got too greedy and stopped caring about quality. If Rated R had been a huge hit, I have no doubt that she'd still be releasing albums around every 2-2.5 years instead of annually. Rated R was her first album not to be released annually and it underperformed hugely. Her label was terrified that she was sinking into irrelevancy, so answered the problem by making her churn out an album every year, so the public couldn't forget about her in her downtime. It's weird to think that this is the entire reason Loud, one of Rihanna's most iconic and biggest selling albums, even exists. It exists because it was thrown together last minute to make up for the flop of Rated R. And her next two albums followed suit. All her recent work has been about making up for Rated R and what a relief it was that Unapologetic finally broke the chain, because she was in a terrible, exhausting routine and the public was so sick of her. It's unknown how she'll fare after such a long break but I she'll definitely struggle especially if she's turning even further away from pop. I don't want Gaga to be like Rihanna - pushing out an album every year just to stay relevant, not having any time to get inspired by new things. Her music would suffer so badly for it.

Also, Gaga's much more successful as a touring artist worldwide than Rihanna is, so her tours will always be longer (minus artRave, of course). Rihanna isn't popular in Asia and Latin America, so she only has to make room for a 3 continent tour, which is possible to encapsulate into a year. Gaga's sprawling global tour dates are a big part of what stops her from releasing new material as she can't release a new album while on tour with the last album.

Some artists/bands wait many years between releases.

The more frequently you release, the more people you have to pull in to help with writing/producing songs for you, and the more diluted your work becomes.

Some have argued that ARTPOP suffers from this, because it was rushed so quickly that Gaga relied a little too much on producer contributions.

I still love ARTPOP though, because I'm a long-time raver. :)

Gaga writes her own songs, and Rihanna doesn't. That's why it takes Gaga longer.

And yeah I don't care about C2C either and I want PopGa, but hey, there's nothing we can do about it.

You've got to be kidding me....Gaga has released an album once about every 1 & 1/2 to 2 & 1/2 years. Be thankful that she's not like JT and waits 6 or 7 years. Let her get her creative juices flowing and I bet the next album will be amazing. She doesn't have anyone pushing her to make the next one so now she create the album the way she truly wants.

This fanbase is so impatient omg. :awkney: The LONGEST we've had to wait for an album is 2 years. Try stanning for an artist who doesn't do promo literally everywhere and just disappears for some years then pops up out of no where with new music.

And we JUST got an album. Whether you like it or not, it's in her discography forever and she put time and effort into it. And as for pop? She'll release it once she's in the right time in her life for it. If it really bothers you that much then maybe it's time you stan for another artist.

It's so true.

Hmm, let's see. Rihanna's last studio album was released more than two years ago. Gaga's last studio album was released three months ago, and her last solo studio album was just from a year ago. Gaga has also just released a single, "Winter Wonderland" w/ Tony Bennett on iTunes days ago. Rihanna's last single was released 11 months ago, and she's only a featured vocalist. If anything, Gaga has clearly released more music material than Rihanna in the last two years or so. There's literally nothing to complain with regards to Gaga's desire and commitment in satisfying her fans through the release of newly recorded music. Since her debut in 2008, there's only one year wherein she didn't release a single and that's 2012 (when she was touring stadiums and arenas around the world w/ BTW Ball). Isn't that an indication of generosity?

And as for Katy Perry, she has only released 3 studio albums, 1 re-issue, 1 EP, 1 DVD since 2008. Gaga, on the other hand, has released 4 studio albums, 1 major EP/re-issue, 2 remix albums, 2 more EPs, 1 DVD within the same time frame. Again, Gaga has released more. Is there really a need for her to pull *insert other artists' scheduling" when she has given her fans more major releases than her contemporaries in recent years?

Now, if we're talking about singles huge on radio and everywhere else, that's a different matter. That's something, while could be prepared by multiple deals w/ hit-making producers and radio programmers, is never 100% guaranteed. It's unfair and unrealistic to ask Gaga to deliver hits after hits like what she has done in 2009 to early 2011. That's neither her goal nor should be her task. The commercial performance of a single or an album depends, mostly, on the type of support one's fanbase is willing to give.

We have gotten The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP and Cheek To Cheek all in 6 years.

I think we're okay.
