Is Gaga Making A Mistake?

These days only Rihanna puts albums out constantly

True but Katy has longevity in how many singles she puts out from each album plus re-releases and how often her songs are played on radio

Britney doesn't have radio or single longevity, but people know she tour legend. When she's done...she pops up again with another album and single

Gaga isn't like either of these...

the problem is

no one knows thats gaga

me n my friends saw it on tv and i said ''did u know thats lady gaga?'' they all were so suprised

EXACTLY!

I was walking through Newcastle with my friends and the H&M we walked by had Gaga and Tony in the shop window and I said to my friends "hey, that is Gaga you know!" and one of them said "no it isn't. She looks way hot on there!". Then to his surprise it said "Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga" underneath :smh:

In my messy era.

Ummm...you realize the common thread between Rihanna, Britney, and Katy is they don't write their music and are practically pop puppets? :awkney:

It takes Gaga time (years) to write and create her album concepts...The other three walk in a room...lay down vocals and then have an album done like that! :thetea:

I'm sorry to butt in, but that's not quite true. Gaga wrote all of her songs for The Fame Monster (arguably her best work for most of us,) whilst she was touring for The Fame Ball. She completed the tour within six months. I'm sorry, but it seems to me Gaga writes her best songs when she's in an incredibly limited time frame. As with ARTPOP, she seemed to keep changing the songs and changing the songs. It's a personal thing, but I believe she ruined Sexxx Dreams because she was given too much time, and she kept "perfecting" it, until it was added, mixed, and changed into oblivion.

So there's certainly two sides to that argument.

No, she's not making any mistakes. She needs time to be creative unless you want her music to go to s***.

Yes. Cheek to Cheek counts as one of Gaga's albums. Do you guys really wanna discredit a Grammy-nominated (hopefully Grammy-winning soon), #1 album with a f***ing legend that adds so much credibility to her voice and musicianship? Like, no. Don't write C2C off. This album is one of the best things that she's done, and it's doing stellar for a jazz album in 2014. If no one was listening to it, it wouldn't have gone #1 the first week and still be selling.

And she had amazing flops too.

I don't see her doing bad...

Madonna produced and put out I'm Breathless in  May of 1990, with some original songs she wrote with Shep, and soundtrack songs from **** Tracy.  It was double platinum in the U.S. and was in the **** Tracy movie and did the Blond Ambition tour, which was the most buzzed about pop concert of all time in that period. It is such an iconic tour of its kind that she was continually in the press She she had a lot of presence out there between Like a Prayer and Erotica.

Towards the end of 1990 she also put out her greatest hits compilation with two new songs Justify My Love and Rescue Me, The Immaculate Collection, in 1990 with remixes of the songs.  Justify My Love had a brilliant music video that kept her very visible because of the controversy.  The Immaculate Collection has sold 30 million albums.

So it really wasn't three years between albums.  Two albums came out that kept fans happy.

Also, in 1987 she put out Who's That Girl soundtrack to her movie, which sold 6 million worldwide.  Only four of the songs were hers, but she had two hit singles off of it, which also kept her in the public eye and on the radio.

Madonna didn't' really slow down in releases until after Bedtime Stories, which she had been a pop star for like 11 years by then.

I don't think it has anything to do with timming, is more about Gaga began as an IT girl back then, fierce. And now she has become more like a guardian of the gays and very mother-like and ARTPOPist and people find her silly and not that "cool" anymore. srsly

I'm not saying it's bad tho. I luuuuuuv it.

I think it was just due to the hip injury. She was forced to spend way too much time with it. Didn't she or someone else say it was ready for an early 2013 release while the BTWB was ending, like she did with BTW at the end of TMB? I think she began to make all the changes almost unknowingly because she had nothing else to do. I personally love the album, but I agree that some of the early versions of the songs would've made the album even better.

But I say that to say this: I think that it's more the circumstances rather than the amount of time. If she's writing and creating an album for a long time and she's in a good place and healthy/happy, I think that's good for the music and her. If she has an album ready, and circumstances push her to spend more time with it after she's already pretty much finished it...that's definitely not a good thing. You know what I mean?

Gaga is almost 7 years into her career, and lets face it, Christina's relevance was already fading big time when she was at the same juncture. Was she grossing 80 million on tours at that point? Was she releasing critically acclaimed duet albums with industry royalty?

Gurl please. :madge:

I love Xtina, but she is one lazy popstar.  She hasn't toured since 2006.

Elizabeth

Everyone's different and Christina and Gaga have had very different careers so the time between album releases doesn't correlate to success imo.

Our stan is different from the other pop stars with the fact that Gagz isn't an industry puppet and hasn't been since like, TF and sort of TFM. We know how much smash potential she has as a puppet (we had a taste with what DWUW was going to be). Don't expect her to be on a constant grind like these other pop stars because she's pretty much on ha own pace and game.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

I actually think we're really lucky to have 5 albums in 6 years, not many popstars or musicians release as often as that. I think she'll be fine.

Christina's problem was not the amount of time, but simply that the public was not here for Bionic (particularly after coming off from the 20's,30's & 40's inspired Back to Basics), also she had a greatest hits in between so the break wasn't actually as long as 4 years. Despite flopping twice in a row she is around on features so I don't think she's 'forgotten' and still has a chance of a 'comeback'.

I don't think Gaga is the type of popstar who'll be 'forgotten' so easily, people are well aware of her, just simply not as interested as before. 2-3 years between albums is average actually, plenty of popstars have flopped or taken a break for a few years before coming back on top:

 - Mariah didn't have any major solo hits from 2001 to 2004 (when Glitter and Charmbracelet flopped) and yet still made a major comeback with 'The Emancipation of Mimi' in 2005.

 - Kate Bush took 12 years between 'The Red Shoes' in 1993 and 'Aerial' in 2005 and she's hardly forgotten.

 - Kylie released 'Impossible Princess' in 1997 (3 years after her previous album) which underperformed but she still released 'Light Years' 3 years later and it became a success (it had her first major worldwide solo hit for 6 years)

You shouldn't worry about Gaga, she'll be fine :) the GP won't forget she existed (I don't think they ever will) and it's not as if they ALL have a thing against her.

If anything a break might make them 'miss' her a bit and make them hyped for her comeback (if you could call it that)

Whispering

Aware and interested are two different things. Granted DWUW had some real buzz to it but that got squandered. "What happened to Lady Gaga" is way too common of a phrase amongst those who don't follow the pop world closely. But I do think Cheek to Cheek is doing a good job of getting her name out there in an interesting way again. A Grammy performance would be amazing.

Interested means buying singles, albums and tour tickets...and that is exactly what happened.

I agree about C2C. :)

Jewels n Drugs

I agree, if not an album she should at least be sending some new songs to the radio or keeping the singles flowing. People don't care about the album nowadays anyway, they only care about the single :ohwell:

but Music not the Bling :derpga:

thissssssssssss

oh look when you werent looking my motorcycle turned into a piano

Every artist is different although I definitely prefer Gaga's work when she's under pressure I feel, I mean The Fame Monster and Born This Way are my favourite albums and they were both recorded on tour with a tight schedule.
