I genuinely hate when people talk **** about the R.Kelly feature not in terms of controversy but in terms of what it added to the track. He was literally seamless with both Gaga and the production, lyrically i guess he was a little basic but ultimately that track is one of the best singles shes released since The Fame and its kind of a travesty imo that it failed like it did. It was literally one of the best pop tracks shes made and released in a long time and it only failed because people didn't want anything to do with her.

I genuinely have no opinion about the R. Kelly controversies. My beef is that his verse nearly changes the meaning of the song. WHICH is the reason why i think the song failed... It was misconstued by many as just some s-x song.

Not because " people wanted nothing to do with her." If that were true, Applause wouldnt have been as successful as it was. It wouldve fallen off the itunes chart after its first week.

I recognized the fact that you had qualms with his verse itself and not the controversy. You must've misconstrued my reply.

And its true, people didn't really want anything to do with her. I mean Applause did fine mostly because it was the lead single but once that settled people were like **** her. Do What U Want was a #1 hit that did not happen because people didn't want to consume Lady Gaga. Thats literally all it was.

DWUW didn't do as well because the R Kelly story came out in detail shortly after it was released, which introduced the new generation of radio listeners to the allegations.

The song was doing very well until it mysteriously was pulled from the US beats commercial (because of the detailed article that came out) and it slowed considerably when people started googling "R Kelly" after SNL. In Canada and other countries with the Beats commercial, DWYW ended up going number one, two or three on the charts. It was one of her best received songs in concert, but the Kelly controversy held it back in the US. Plus, it never had a video to help push it along.

The general music Pop radio listeners didn't want to support R Kelly. It had nothing to do with Gaga.

One's reputation hardly affects my liking towards one's virtuosity. That's probably an unpopular stand and definitely not universally accepted or followed, but that's just me. I mean I may not like one's character or that person's shortcomings because it differs (or even contradicts) the values I'm following, but that doesn't automatically mean I've to devalue things I've already liked on that person prior to the knowledge of his/her personal demons. I'm a firm believer that no person on Earth, both living or the departed, has lived a perfect life without any mistake, any wrongdoing, any contemptible action taken or word spoken anyway. It's being human to make mistakes, even continuously. AB has stated things I don't agree, and so does every single person I've met. But should the dislikes eradicate the likes? Should the 'bad' things force one to forget and ignore the 'good' things? I'd say no. It's not an absolute imperative, and it shouldn't be. Otherwise, no person on Earth should be forgiven and be appreciated. An imperfection should never be the sole definition of a person. The imperfections, the good things, and everything in between should be.

With these in mind, I do like her music. I find her incredibly good in what she does as an artist. And I've first heard her because of Gaga. Am I glad their collaborations didn't push through? No. Why? Because I've heard how great she is. And I can't help myself but to want, or at least wish for lack of a better word, to hear two A+ female talent come up with songs I could potentially love.

I think something really cool would've come out of the studio if Azealia and Gaga worked well and actually kept the song on the album, whether it be Red Flame or Ratchet. I think Azealia has a nice voice and some of her songs are really great, but the problem here is her attitude, that's what I guess didn't work out with Gaga.

But yes, I'm glad that Gaga decided to stay away from her, but I love Ratchet and I can't believe Jewels N' Drugs is there and not the first one.

I'd rather she work with Azealia than R Kelly. Probably the worst musical collab of her career imo, still baffles me.

The Kelly controversy was so sideline. People already thought of him that way and certainly that didn't help but ultimately it was old news even when it was new news. Its the fact that people didn't want to consume her first and foremost.

Like, why upset yourself with what I think?? Worry about what YOU think..... For ****s sake.

Like seriously, if I'm as much of an asshole as you all say I am, then why the **** do you guys pay attention to EVERYTHING I say.

I don't need you to agree with me, and you should not need me to agree with you...

The world takes it upon itself to get upset about the things I say as if I'm trying to force the world to agree with me.

I express myself, but I never try and push my beliefs and ideas on others.
