Well I guess here's the obligatory slow song for The Pinkprint... Just grab someone to sing the chorus with really mediocre lyrics and release it as a single. Seriously, I like Nicki, but it seems like it's just a compulsory requirement to do this now. I thought she was gonna start doing something really interesting with this album - away from the pop/mainstream stuff she got stuck in the last few years, but this just seems like so basic and unoriginal. And Anaconda came across as a joke. Disappointing so far...

When you put it that way, you can put dow any song. I mean, Applause was just a song with a weird chorus and electronic beats that seemed recycled right? Just using that as an example.

I think this song is great.

I meant that it's become more of a cliche for the rap market. It seems like all these rappers have to release that "sad/deep/meaningful" song - and of course they can if they want, I'd rather a meaningful lyric over another song about 'booty' and 'money' - but it falls into this generic sound all too often. Spoken-word sounding delivery - piano with a slow beat - then someone comes in and sings the chorus (singers like Skylar Grey have kind of become a go-to person to write/sing these choruses). It's unfortunate, because regardless of how powerful and personal the message or story the rapper is trying to tell with the song, it can lose it's ability to resonate with the audience because it doesn't seem special or unique. It just all fades away on the radio

It feels like this style of song (more mainstream chorus followed by rap, chorus, rap, chorus, etc) has been used too much in the past years, and it honestly takes me back to Airplanes or any Eminem song with a feature lol... Disappointed.  :noparty:

It's okay. The chorus is my favorite. Nicki still confusing me all the time though. Does she want to be a serious artist or not?
