Republicans take over the U.S.

I'm just worried that they will stunt the social progress we've been moving toward. If we keep progressing socially, I'll be able to deal.

Worst part is that they probably won't do anything either. Congress has been in a deadlock of sorts.

I just feel like we will not go farther in progress because of these traditional values and no matter what happens, we will be the victims because of their ideology. Sickening.

What we need to do is get money out of politics, that way it forces these politicians to work for us instead of only doing the work of which elite billionaire will give them the most money for doing what they want.

this is ****ing stupid and insulting and offensive. You do realize Gaga's father is a republican, right? Conservatives just want better fiscal policies. Gay marriage can wait a little bit. 31 out of the 50 states already allow it anyway and we need to get the economy flowing better again. The republicans might be annoying and backwards but they know how to pump up the economy far more than the democrats who like to spend money too much.

the US economy is doing amazing right now. I dont get why even bigger growth would seem necessary?

This is pretty disappointing. If this continues, there goes the possibility of peace in the Middle East, economic growth in West-Africa, acceptance of trans/gay humans, etc. America will become even more hated by the rest of the world, the population will get fatter, CO2 emission will increase, the industry will become even more money-orientated..

And then the Democrats can try to clean up the mess after 4/8 years again.

This is good as it means there is less chance of restrictive gun legislation being passed!

You don't even live in America, why would you care?? :deadbanana:

Same reason Americans care about the laws in Russia or Uganda Plus if the laws change here, I plan to move there!

Americans and most of the free world care about Russian and Ugandan laws because in the latter, people were literally trying to have a legalized death penalty for gay people, that is literally no way comparable to people being able to buy military grade assault weapons like they're Big Macs.

A lot of people are. From what I can tell on here people only vote liberally because of same-s-x marriage. I hope that isn't the case.

They are both issues of people's rights. Many people enjoy firearms just like you enjoy pop music. How would you like to have restrictions or complete bans on your favorite songs? In addition it's perhaps more important since many people see them not just for fun but for defence and heritage too.

And fyi, "military grade assault weapons" must be individually registered with the ATF and owners must undergo a background check, in addition any such firearms must have been made and registered before 1986, ie no new automatic weapons can be produced and sold.

My pop music doesn't kill people. Every other civilized country realized "defense" arguments don't work and it can be seen that the less citizens they allowed gun access to, gun crime went down. If these people were left defenseless then wouldn't we see an increase in gun death? No, in fact we've seen the opposite.

Because we've been able to pass successful regulations. Could you imagine if we didn't?

It's irrelevant, my guns never killed anyone either, and frankly I don't care about the crime rate. Why should I be punished for the acts of other people? Bottom line, I like gun rights and I will not support anyone who campaigns for restrictions and bans on my passions, in my country or out of it! No point arguing with me, my mind won't change, and you clearly aren't a fan of guns so you won't see it my way either.

Yes, it would be like the '80s all over again. No biggie. Those guns were never responsible for many deaths. Very few. America got along well through all those decades. The guns that kill the most people are the hardest to restrict and ban, handguns and assorted hunting/target weapons. Maybe a portion of the public will support banning so-called "assault weapons" under the scaremongering of politicians, but they won't say the same about grandpa's revolver or some old shotgun.

I doubt those who aren't DEAD because gun restrictions were enacted are finding that fact irrelevant. :deadbanana: Unfortunately sometimes to benefit the public at large, some individuals will have to make sacrifices.
