I wonder what made her decide to sing this song? I'm so glad she did, it's a great and recognizable song and I absolutely love her voice to it. Oh my gosh. I missed Gagz doing covers. She slays them everytime. :whip:

I swear pop fans are so used to robotic voices with no dynamic range that any elevation in level is considered "screaming".  She obviously resonates with the lyrics in this song, the song itself is an angry one. She was feeling it.  Her voice was controlled, she easily moved into the softer parts with clearer vocals.   This was her interpretation, deal with it.

I'm sorry but I adore Marilyn Manson, Hole, Placebo, HIM and other rock bands and the screaming in this song was unnecessary in most parts. I LOVE Gaga's screams, they're fierce, and I am not one to diss Gaga for no reason, but I really didn't like what she did with this song. P!nk covered the song a few years ago and she did a fantastic job. Deal with it.

Those who didn't like it aren't attacking the ones who liked it and generalizing. Why do you feel like you have to group all the ones who didn't enjoy it and question their taste in music when you clearly don't even know what they listen to?

The constant screaming at a few of the parts is kind of awkward and just overkill. Just singing at a normal volume probs would have sufficed...

I think many stars use pop as a crowbar to get onto the scene, establish themselves and then do what they want lol.

Sorry I probably overreacted to your post. People on this site have been accusing Gaga of "screaming" even thorough the c2c era and it's just become annoying to me over time.

For this song, I think the "screaming" is justified.

It was amazing except for when she SCREAMED the song. Not here for that.

Having said that I loved that. Such a great song

It's ok  I've actually just watched it again and it didn't seem as bad but sadly I still didn't like it. What excited me is that she is DEFINITELY moving into a different direction musically and I can't wait to see what she has in store. She is a rockstar and we all know that.

She is seriously dropping some major hints about the next album. It's going to be an angry grunge rock record. Watch.

I agree that some people are overreacting, but saying that she was in control of those screams isn't true. They were very raw and a lot of times off-key.

But that doesn't make the performance bad, it just makes it more emotional and passionate. She intentionally screamed and lost control like that, because it was how she was feeling at that time. If she were recording this in the studio she could've hit those notes without if she wanted to, but at this exact time she couldn't have done it any better. It's one of my favorite performances of her ever :)

It was amazing but the screams were quite unneccessary tbh

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

This was a surprise to wake up to this morning. Not entirely sure what made her want to cover this song (it had that "means a lot to me" feel) but I liked it, despite the fact she oversang a helluva lot of it.
