This is in the USA right?

Cause I doubt people in France or Spain even know who she is...

No hate, but she is really not that big a pop star in Europe.

Taylor was number one on iTunes in those two countries when the album was released. She was also number one in the UK and Germany. (two of the bigger markets in Europe) 1989 will be #1 this week in the UK, predicted to sell around 100K. It has also been declared #1 so far in Ireland and the Netherlands.

Taylor may very well not end up being #1 all over Europe, but they certainly know who she is. :)

Yeah but honey iTunes top10's don't mean much. It's not that representative.

UK is always an exception from the rest of Europe with music btw.

If I would live in Hungary and I would buy 10 copies it would go to number 1, yet she is very unknown.

I wanna congratulate her but I kinda feel bad for Gaga.

I feel like everyone is able to top her with any effort. Can someone comfort me?

Gaga has the number 1 most sales than any other female artist that debuted since the 2000's Second is Riri and then taylor and fourth Katy Perry. Gaga outsells all of her contemporaries even adele.

Trust me Gaga's net worth and power is always ranked in the top 5 if not number one on a few high noted organizations. Ie forbes and Guinness world records

Gaga only gets bested because she breaks and sets records. This article is also Full of shade. That .99 cent deal on amazon didn't take away from the revenue that she made because amazon paid full price for those CD's. WW selling over 10 million in a few months

I hope yall do realize that she is the no.1 pop girl.  It's not even arguable

aside from being 3rd place behind number 1 lady gaga and second riri for the most sold albums and singles for female artists debuting after the 2000's. I guess you and the rest of the world have different definitions on what a number 1 pop girl is :dead:

not true. you dont know it, taylor has a niche audience and many fans, but her songs never got big outside the pop-fan audience. I havent heard or seen anything about the 1989 release outside ATRL and GGD.

As the days tick by, the sales forecast for Taylor Swift's 1989 album continues to grow.

As of Nov. 1, with only one full day left in the album's debut tracking week, industry forecasters now say 1989 could sell over 1.3 million copies through Nov. 2.

Thus, the album is now aiming to surpass the one-week sales record for an album by a woman, set by the debut of Britney Spears' Oops! … I Did It Again in 2000, when it arrived with 1.319 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

If she sets the record for both highest female overall first week sales and highest female digital first week sales  Britney's first week sales of Oops! is just a couple thousand under Eminem's highest first week sales. Tay could also bump him down too
