Maybe it's cause most of the top pop females are currently in hibernation or something? Idek

And there aren't many pop males to cover for the females. Female artists rule the pop industry.

Actually, this trend in popular music just shows how many different tastes are out there. Many of those songs are fantastic and creative. Realize that not everyone has to like what y'all like. People usually like variety.

Do your own research.

What we need is non-corporate non-mainstream music that is based in progressive, soul-stirring, passionate people... like we need the Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, John Lennon and Ani DiFranco of our time to come exploding out....

The current people who most fit that vision for me are Nahko & Medicine for the People... and The Polish Ambassador.

This is why Lana Del Rey exists. She is the saviour of 21st century music.

in her first albums she did  :ohwell:

or wait you are being sarcastic?

She also did with her second and her fourth. BTW may be the only exception.

I just don't get it why is it so bad to be in the top 10 and to have a team behind you, because every successful musician has that, no exception.

I think, musically, pop has been moving in a really good place since 2012 (with the exceptions of maybe the fluke Jason Derulo hit or the like). People are craving more genuine forms of music, leading to the rise of the Sam Smiths and Lordes of the scene...I honestly don't understand how you all find this a bad thing. EDM is on the decline, so are songs about "being in da club", and artists like Tove Lo and Sia are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Music is getting better, not worse.

except she's not very positive, uplifting, visionary or progressive....

she's got a gorgeous voice, but she's a downer and is totally bought into the uber wealthy elite agenda.

I think the rise of Sam Smith, Lorde and Banks is a good thing, personally....

I just wish that the corporate music industry had more support for honest, authentic artists instead of mega-hit pop shlock...

That's just the nature of the music industry. Honestly, they've always been this way, they are selling a product after all. If something sells, then they'll continue producing it. What we have to do is ignore the shlock they put out and focus on the real artists, and soon they'll take note.

Might seem out of the blue but i'm thinking queen Kesha Rose is going to slay next year. I have this feeling.

Also hoping for Adam Lambert to drop a BOMB of a good album after his Queen tour is over.

And when Azealia Banks finally drops that amazing flow album...

Also i'm thinking Rihanna is going to put a slay record out.

Let me just, briefly, mention Christina Aguilera here as well.

And Nicki Minaj's pink print.

I'm not expecting a new Katy Perry, Beyonce or Gaga album in 2015.. perhaps like very late.

Can someone scratch that horrible honky tonk All About That Bass song from the charts? Please?

And drag Taylor Swift out as well. Here for more "we belong together" from her.

Can someone scratch your flop taste from the face of the internet?

She better not have a career again.

Pop music has always worried me because I'm really a rocker and I never understood how pop can compete with rock.  I do like some pop, though, especially Gaga.

I live outside the space time continuum.

As soon as acoustic and simple become the fashion, radio and the industry with saturate the market with generic product in that style. Happened with grunge rock (Nirvana to Creed and Nickelback) and 90's R&B (down to death).

That's why Britney was a breathe of fresh air in kids in 1999.

More sia, adele, sam smith, ariana, beyonce, mariah carey Madonna (circa Ray of Light, not MDNA)... less Katy, miley, Iggy, rihanna, and "pop Taylor", and Lorde (her music is okay... but I cant stand her personality she is so pretentious)

Gaga is on a league of her own and she can always stay :whitney:
