How is she betraying her legacy? She is just saying that mainstream music is moving in a new direction.

How horrible, betraying her own legacy like this :crossed:

Saying you want to progress because you think that musical needs are changing/evolving doesn't shade anything that she's done so far.

Also, saying you want to record in studio with live performers doesn't mean it has be straight ballads. Or does everyone think that Thriller was all recorded digitally?

If I wanted to be a fan of someone who stays with the status quo I'd like all the other popstars beyond an occasional radio listen. The fact that she pushes people out of what they THINK they want right now is why i fell in love with her in 09.

ALL THIS :applause:

She isn't dissing her entire discography.  She is saying Electronic is out. And guess what? IT IS.  I don't think she thinks all her electronic music is trash or anything.  I think she will still make pop records and even electronic records.  But I also expect her to put out music that is more raw.  I hope to see more of the Gaga that wrote "Oh Well" and "Brown Eyes."

if it's like Stuck on fooking you, then yes

*So every time she makes a new album its going to be the most important one she ever made? her statements just lose credibility when she repeats them over and over. I don't know what to believe anymore.

To be honest, all kinds of music is always the future. Not just electronic. Music always goes through cycles.

EDM is boring not electronic music

electronic music is always the future

"Cheek to Cheek is my most important album"

I really dunno what to say about this tbh.

In my messy era.

The album was EDM, but also (in my opinion) more creative than it seems like you're giving it credit for. The soundscape was far more varied and intricate than merely replicating a hit electronic sound. I can't imagine her fine-tuning tracks like "Venus", "MJH", "Swine", etc. and actually thinking they would make a splash on the radio. Not for lack of quality, but just because they're more aggressive and out-there than what passes muster for a hit single these days. And yes, Zedd is a hitmaker and "GUY" sounds like a hit. But again, more creativity than I would expect on his part, I'm assuming due to Gaga's collaboration.

Also, and I could be wrong, but it seemed that you were implying that ARTPOP was inauthentic. :classy:

I think she was looking at Venus as a big hit, or else she wouldn't have pushed so hard for it being the second single, it's not like she wanted the second single to flop. And I don't think the song is any harder sounding than Bad Romance for example. Keep in mind there were songs like Wake Me Up on the radio last year. Swine could have been too hard and crazy for the radio, but the album version is significantly softened and I assume it was in the running to be a single as well, she included it among the options after Swinefest. Gaga still thought she was untouchable while recording the album, and she thought electronic was still in. This was supposed to be her big rise from the ashes after the hip-injury.

And I wouldn't count Donatella as Zedd stepping up his creativity  :rip: Aside from that song, I think all her songs are authentic, but in different ways. ARTPOP comes from an authentic place but it's expressed in a pretty shallow way, imo. (with the exception of Dope). The first chorus on the album is "do you want to see the girl who lives behind the aura" but we don't really get that.

She said it's the most important album for her.

Jesus, can you guys think about anyone else or is that impossible for you?

She didn't say it was more important than Born This Way in general.

PopBitch

Why shouldn't it be though?

I've just never heard a singer/songwriter say an album of non-original music is their most important to them, ever.  I've heard them say a less popular album they wrote is the one most important to them.
