Celina 118
When did she imply that electronic music (let alone her own music) wasn't authentic or that it was soulless or shallow? It seems to me that she was talking about the sound, the vocals, etc. Plus I'd like to think she isn't dumb enough to purposely act like her entire pop career has been completely fake, even if that were the case... which it isn't. We know that her work has been meaningful and passionate and has connected to so many people (hence the complaints in this thread), and come on, it's obvious from the past 6 years that she knows it too. You guys are taking this way too seriously.
giskardsb 12,565
In my last post I may have sounded angrier than I actually am. It's just that she's contradicting herself way too much to be seen as solid at this point. She seems so lost still. Like she hasn't yet figured out who she wants to be. And I though Lady Gaga was proud of herself. Also makes me think her next pop album (if she ever does that such thing) is gonna sound awful and disposable since she is so resented and ashamed by this genre and electronic and is now trashing her earlier stuff so bad. Today she praises MTN but talks bad about electronic to a magazine. She is people pleasing so hard for C2C!!!!!!! I hate saying this but she's sounding like an #Apologetic B*! You are reading WWWAAAAYYY too much into what she said.
Whispering 18,865
But slower and sometimes acoustic songs have always been popular. Sam Smith has had a hit (locally anyway) with a pop song too. Didn't Dope chart pretty well, considering it was promotional single? What about all the alternative artists consistently breaking into the top ten? There's always spots in the chart for these songs no matter what genre is currently influencing pop. Not really, not in the US. Over the past few years, a true ballad was hardly ever sent to Pop radio and if it was, it surely wasn't going to have a chance at #1. That changed with Adele's SLY. Now, true ballads are often in the top 3, if not at the number one spot. Pop radio has allowed and even embraced these type of songs, that would have had a much harder time a few years ago. MahoganySnitch 67
But that is not your problem. If that is her most important album for whatever reason, than that is just how it is. Your "own" most important Gaga album doesn't have to be the same as hers. You also have to remember that she constantly says that this album saved her career because she did not want to make music anymore. And I think this fact is pretty important. THis! Mills 446
Ballads, acoustic, rock - I'd love Gaga to explore these with her next album, if she wants to make the most out of this endless demand for more "human, honest" sound, as shown by the success of Adele, Sam Smith and "All of Me" this year. It's supporting her previous statements regarding what her next album would sound like, and I couldn't complain at all. As for her considering C2C as her "most important album I've ever made", that's expected and is merely stating the obvious. Your present work IS the most important one. Saying otherwise is as good as giving up your passion for your profession. Are some honestly expecting her to say that her current album is her "2nd most important" and/or the "least important"? If she says that, and I'm sure she won't (or any other artist who's not out of their mind), then feel free to complain and lambast her. It'd only mean she's no longer motivated / doesn't care anymore. And what she said is nowhere near to that.
Cupid 760
This reminds me of what Tove Lo said in an interview recently I get excited when bands like Fun. and Lorde get to the top  especially with [Lorde], she writes personal stuff that really strikes you. It’s about her, and the voice, the lyrics, the minimal beat… There’s a rawness to it that I really love, when it’s not too polished. I think they're both talking about the same thing. And I completely agree
destinyofself 1,006
The only thing that confuses me about what she said is when she mentioned trends, she's always seemed like the type of artist who sets their own trends and don't worry about what other people are doing. AquaFire Witch 160
Gaga's ever changing opinions doesn't bother me. I think no matter what she says she still does music that she loves and is inspired by. If she says ARTPOP is her most important album at said time then it probably is/was...and then she grows and discovers more of herself and what is capable of and that changes. Whether you're a doctor, a designer, a salesman, an artist...you're always looking to improve your craft. Maybe that's what she means.....Also she's still growing as an artist. And of course she can't be stuck backwards thinking oh i should make another record like The Fame or BTW. Why should she? Keep moving forward Gaga! AdamMonster94 13
I'm seeing industrial beats with banging vocals. Classic ballads with hints of electronic music. Pure pop vocal with truly hard rock. Ugh this next album I'm visioning in my head is going to slay.... HARD!
FameHookah 4,595
Gosh, Gaga has never sounded so boring. I hate Sam Smith. he tries too hard imo. I knew her hanging out with Tony Bennett was going to turn out like this. She's sounding like a 80 year old. So let's look at this statement. She's throwing shade at her entire fanbase. She doesn't think we connect with ARTPOP or BTW because they're electronic and we just like those records because we were being trendy?? So all of this time she was just being trendy instead of authentic herself? So when she told all that crap on Oprah that she wanted to discover her new sound for ARTPOP was just a big pile of bull****? She just built the songs like that to be ~trendy? (and in that case she failed). Seriously...I don't even know what to say, or to think anymore. She is constantly making me feel like this whole "Lady Gaga" thing was just a fantasy, a fad, a product that she's ditching because it's no longer profitable. Wow Stefani...you're leaving me speechless in the worst way possible. Lady Gaga would never be so superficial and judgemental about music. Electronic can be deep too. You just have to be good at it, sweetie. and Lady Gaga IS. Lady Gaga is pop. electronic pop. just dance, gonna be ok. That's why I fell in love with LADY F* GAGA. right now she just seems to exist at the artRAVE. **** this. **** her for saying this. Sam smith's voice makes me wanna vomit. Not even the Gods that are Disclosure made me like that *beep *beep. MTE :applause: WTF is MDNA
Wild 1,296
Just because it isn't EDM doesn't mean it's authentic or what people want. I love EDM and when it's done well it can be better and more heartfelt then any jazz standard that she didn't write. Gaga most of your fans became fans of you because of that music, and she turns around and almost acts as if she's better than it. That music is the reason Ryan is even questioning you, and even why Tony made Cheek to cheek with you, is what's made you a star.
