Lady Gaga's next album discussion

But Born This Way was so much more successful than ARTPOP. People want and expect her to make alternative pop music that's forward-thinking and innovative. I love ARTPOP, and it's my favorite album, but none of it was really "new-sounding" except maybe a few songs that never even got single treatment. The album had a lot of different genre influences, and it was experimental for her, but it wasn't a new or different sound like she created with Born This Way. She needs to do something different and alternative to the current pop sound in order for her to be successful. That's what people want from Gaga because they know that no one else is going to bring that freshness the same way she does.

 

I guess you could look at it like that, but part of the reason Born This Way was so big was because it was coming off The Fame Monster and the singles from BTW where more basic. I forced my family to listen to BTW in full on a road trip once and basically my whole family thought it sounded 'weird' (my dad loved Electric Chapel tho). Evident as well with basically everyone loving DWUW, DWUW is pretty basic compared to some songs on ARTPOP (Aura). Not saying her basic songs are bad i just feel the GP accepts them more.

See, why can't we have a proper discussion instead of disagreeing with others' opinions? ARTPOP was top quality to some, bad for others. It's never a matter of fact. 

 

I think if people stop hating her for no reason, think they're cool when they do or feel like the have to just cos most people do and if the media stop trying to turn the gp against her then I think the next album will do well. I feel like people don't hate her as much though, like before, imo so we'll just have to wait and see.

No. People just don't like her. Most of their reasons are totally unjustified. ARTPOP was a great pop album. Arguably, one of the best of its year. People just wanted to beat her down, I think.

This. Also, the fact of the matter is that very, very few casual listeners had even HEARD the music apart from Applause and DWUW, or were even aware of the album to make up their mind about it.

her vocals slayed, the songs (JUDAS and TEOG) are better than venus and she was F.I.E.R.CE

without a single flying doubt, she didn't serve anything special in the 2011 Xfactor performance, YA she sang + danced but isn't that what she does all the time? Even her outfit was 'okay'; when in 2013 Xfactor she severed a slayer intro with slayer vocals with a seashell bikini themed performance + the choreography was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. And not to mention it made controversy.

the wig she was wearing for venus was a cheap mess tho meanwhile the teal hair is flawless

and the seachells for bra is nothing new actually, lots of female singers have had in the past, plus they actually felt before the chorus   and don't forget that she performed DWUW after venus which was actually worse

 

her vocals were great, but they always are

 

and I think she was fierce with the choreography for JUDAS

TBH, I think Gaga just needs really good promotion for her next album.  If she has C2C type promotion, her new album should do well!

Even if this new album isnt ACT II, I just want a Beyonce instead of Azealia Banks version of Red Flame on it. Ya'know, cuz Gaga said Azealia had a bad attitude. Plus, with Beyonce taking her spot, Gaga can make it's music video the sequel to Telephone.

- Show off her vocals more, make the songs easier to sing and perform live

- Design is always an important thing, as well as photoshoots. The Fame Monster had some clean and really beautiful photos and booklet design that was effective and simple. Take a break from a design like ARTPOP's which was very cluttered

I want her to pull a Courtney Love/Hole with Celebrity Skin. Have one song that references the pain and **** she was dragged through during the ARTPOP era, but other than that make a kick ass album. I think everyone will be expecting an "overcoming pain and hate" album just as people expected a mourning widow album from Hole. Turning the tables and moving forward and making killer music would be the best response.
