I LOVE IT!

Only thing is it had a little more bass, like stronger drums or something.

You should really finish it.

Thank God Dr. Luke wasn't producing that then. No offense to the OP, but that ruins the character of the song.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys think this version could have charted better?

Hard to say. In my opinion, the reason for Marry the Night under-performing was a combination of a confusing message and "weird" production. No song on the radio sounds even remotely similar to Marry the Night. So I think if people were able to understand the message more easily and the production was a lot safer, like in my edit, it would've done a whole lot better. If the music video had a fun, short edit that they could play on TV repeatedly, it would've reached a ton more people.

Also, if it was released as the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd single, instead of when promotion for the album was on it's way down, it definitely would've hit top 10.

So, with a clearer message, a safer, "generic" club production, and an earlier release, Marry the Night could have been the smash it was destined to be.

I love MTN's production! The only thing I'd change is add an extended intro to the beginning of the song rather than beginning with Gaga belting right away. I do agree that the message may have confused most audiences. However, some of the biggest songs right now--like RITD & SFTTR--have abstract meanings, as well. Ultimately what I believe killed MTN is the fact that it was released as a 5th single. It really should have been the 2nd single (like the bolded above!)

Oh, the production on Marry the Night is definitely flaw-free. It's just radio listeners these days prefer stupid club/dance songs with cliche lyrics. It's just pretty sad that everyone didn't get the meaning of Marry the Night because it's very easy to relate to. The song is perfect as it is, but I think Gaga needs to stop giving the general public so much credit. The meanings behind her songs are too complex for radio listeners :toofunny:

I could discuss single choices all day, haha. I can't believe Gaga actually thought people would think of Judas as anything but a darker, less catchy, and disrespectful version of Bad Romance.. She definitely should've released Marry the Night as the 2nd single.
