" President Obama has endorsed a cut in the corporate tax rate to 28%, as long as it comes with higher taxes on wealthy individuals. Republicans won’t agree to that demand, and besides, they think the corporate rate should be far lower, perhaps even below 20%"

Here I agree with Obama.

For this reason....

The U.S. is a consumer economy, meaning that much of the money people earn comes from 'other' people spending said money ...

Wealthy people often earn 10,000 times more money than a middle class earner...But they don't buy 10k more stuff ... the difference often goes into tax shelters or foreign bank accounts.

Corportations that make a profit will reinvest in themselves, to turn a higher profit, better product, more employees, better employee benefits to attract the best people, ect... Lowering corporate taxes will increase the economy over all imo.

So, in a sense, wealthy people often rob, or diminish the over all economy, in an effort to protect their own fortunes.

Since opposing political ideologies persist to the point where next to nothing gets done, it seems the U.S. is going to become like France, where any successful idea or business will flee because of unfair tax policies.

Economy

Actually on this subject... Burger King just recently said they wanna merge with Tim Hortons (Canadas largest coffee shop chain) and move its headquarters to Canada for lower taxes

Actually the conservatives have lowered investment taxes, general business taxes and Corporate taxes A LOT over the past decade as well as import taxes. :gaga:

Income taxes are still kinda high though especially for anybody in a tax bracket above $80,000 :MANiCURE:

Im wondering what Americans think of the whole Burger king thing. It could be a sign of more companies to do that

However switching headquarters is a real hassle. Also Don't CEOs and administrators have to move or loose their jobs? if so some companies might be reluctant to consider the move for that reason alone even if the tax rates are more competitive abroad

Thats besides other bureaucracy and shenanigans involved in moving out.

I think some US Corporations will move here. In Fact Toronto is one of the fastest growing Corporate and financial centers in the world... But I believe many companies will stay in the US for multiple reasons

One thing that annoys me is the whole tax the rich campaign. The rich are already taxed. In many places, the rich pay half of their income in taxes already, how much higher can you push the rates?

I think it would be unfair for someone making $500,000 to pay $300,000 in taxes.

this tbh :coffee:

Im not against taxing the rich a bit more... But wome Countries exaggerate...

When u over-do socialism fewer ppl will work hard to be successful and more people get comfortable on the free services rich pay for and the economy becomes unproductive and weak

Burger King Is Going Bananas

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/burger-king-going-bananas-113628642.html

"Tax inversion deals have surged this year as cash-flush companies prioritize acquisition targets beyond the reach of U.S. levies. The Obama administration is well aware of the strategy and has urged Congress to pass legislation that would disincentivize businesses from trying to pull it

I think this is a mistake... its a hostile environment for business. Liberal leaders need to step back a minute and look at the big picture ... If being successesfull means you need to avoid taxes, there is something wrong ...

If the garden is a bad place to grow, then they will look for a new garden...

also trying to stop inversions may make new companies think twice before starting in the US to begin with because they may feel locked in and like once they are in they cant get out

I know how bad Liberals are for business... In my Province they have TERRIBLE policies

If it wasnt for the Conservative Federal Government cleaning up some of the mess, id swear where I live wed be like Europe by now

One thing that annoys me is when people think they need that kind of money to live a good life.
