Creyk 17,837
I really dont understand why every one thinks a break will do her so bad. Releasing 4 albums in the span of 5-6 years is pretty over saturating. I think a significant break (3+ years) will give the GP a real reason to miss her and what she brings to pop music, especially since the current pop scene seem to be moving in a really boring direction atm in which gaga dosent really fit in anywhere. It will also give her time to reconstruct her image, really plan and execute an immaculate new era and wait for that next big single to come to her. As much as I love ARTPOP, it just didnt have an instant relate-able smash hit like Bad Romance, which is what she really needed to win back the GP. All in all, I have great faith and trust that gaga will sustain these roadbumps, because unlike alot of popstars, she's got an immense amount of talent, and a core die hard following that will be with her through thick and thin. Avril Lavigne and Lily Allen both took breaks, and they could never return in full force Now Gaga is a different category than those 2, but taking breaks has never been the answer She needs to push and push tirelessly, be more like Rihanna tbh
LilVenusian 579
No not anymore I lost hope in her She lost it She killed her own career Thank you Born This Way.... She tried to save it with ARTPOP buf failed so hard :'( She had so much potential That has to be one of the most ridiculously dramatic comments i've ever seen on this site. I cant even

She has basically done that and steam rolled a major release out every 2 years (even whilst recovering from a major injury) and her sales and popularity have only decreased. Gaga seems like the type to have a long eventful career with large, long drawn eras (ala madonna), so they obviously take alot more time to plan and execute ( unlike Rihanna, whos main selling point is singles, which are conveniently pre-written for her). Just look at Katy Perry, shes still on her 3rd album and she came out before gaga and her sales and popularity only continues to rise. The music industry is just like any other business, you need to know when your in demand and not, and the demand for gaga is at an all time low and the only way to re-build that demand is for her to decrease her output. Why else do you think Interscope has completely halted the release of anymore ARTPOP singles?

And when she came back people weren't that crazy about her, radios were unwilling to play Applause at first, it had to prove itself. I just don't think that doing blackouts all the time is a good choice. if you don't get in the game, you get left behind. And Gaga's popularity decreased because of management mess, or becaue the songs weren't as good as Poker Face, Just dance, Paparazzi or Alejandro, not for other reason

And when she came back people weren't that crazy about her, radios were unwilling to play Applause at first, it had to prove itself. Really though? I still felt like Applause had a lot of hype and I heard it all over the radio as soon as it came out. Of course it wasnt going to be as big as Bad Romance but it was clear that the GP was still here for a decent gaga bop, and that blackout you spoke of probably helped build some of that buzz (not kill it). What transpired afterwards is questionable though. I felt like Do What U Want killed the momentum of this era more than anything, especially because of the general way it was handle and all the bad press it attracted if you don't get in the game, you get left behind. Fair enough if its some some manufactured, replaceable act with an expiry date buts its gaga were talking about here. Shes always gonna have a presence in the pop scene whether we like it or not, of course her levels of relevancy and popularity are gonna through highs and lows, but shes not gonna be replaced and forgotten as easily as you think. Not to mention shes one of the hardest working women in the business (who genuinely loves what she does), i doubt any of these hot shots in the charts today (that are apparently replacing her) have the ability withstand the amount of touring that gaga has endured these past 6 years. Staying in the game is more about work ethic and dedication than it is just having hit single or a hot image.

I wish I could be as hopeful as you are  I agree about DWUW, it murdered the era along with Troy, it should have never been released. And I'm not just saying that because it flopped, it was actually the 1 track I never liked from the album, not even the remixes could help it

Neal 768
Well Beyoncé had 4. People thought she was over. Then bam, BEYONCÉ happens and suddenly everyone praising her ass like she really is the Queen of everything. The GP can be very unpredictable. LittleBoot 27
I doubt it. People are always looking for something new and the next fresh thing, and it's very competitive. I think the general public is pretty much over Gaga. That said, I don't think that matters. She can still maintain a core group of loyal fans but she needs to run a tighter ship. Rollercoaster 2
Gaga is following in Beyonce's footsteps. 4 had a similar impact to ARTPOP and similar reception "meh.. move on...". But through having an excellent PR team, Beyonce managed to use that blip to catapult herself to legendary status. This is what Gaga is doing. We will see through the album/s with Tony that she will get Grammys and critical praise. People will be fawning over her as a musician because it's toned down, not the same, and giving promo without giving typical Gaga-ness that people grow wary of. After all this hype (perfume, Jazz albums, grammys, etc) and lord knows what else is in store - she'll be getting drooled over. People will be dying for new music. Plus, I think she's smart enough to know that she needs the best team possible around her. She also needs to be a bit of a bandwagoner and get some features on her album that are going to help sell it. Not R Kelly and 2 short, but (if she were releasing today) Iggy, Ariana, Nicki, etc. Or take advantage of people that WANT to collab with her, or get unexpected people who are fans who would probably collab - Adele, Aguilera, Rihanna, etc. I honestly think the next pop album should kick off with a full plan of action behind it. Videos recorded, the whole nine yards. Not released all at once, but released in the traditional sense - but just so the vids are ready. Professional video makers - Jonas Akerlund for the love of god! Can you imagine Gaga starting an album campaign releasing something along the lines of JD/PF with a fun video like BDR/JD? Then following it up pre-album with a Rihanna Collab that has a big name producer on the track and the video made by Jonas Akerlund? She just needs great PR and some restraint/control/direction. We know the formula that made her big and can make her big again - she seems oblivious.
Dangerous Man 9,245
I stopped caring. As long as she give us new music, I am already happy with that. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."
