Zoey Brooks 0
I was only disappointed with ARTPOP because it felt like she didn't stay true to her convictions. "We can put art in the front - and pop and fame and the media- can take a back seat" Pop artists like Katy start selling faster, Miley, Katy, Beyonce steal the spotlight, radio stops spinning G.U.Y and suddenly ARTPOP is over. Like really? What happened to a video for every song? What happened to F*CK YOU POP MUSIC THIS IS ARTPOP!!!?? I wish she kept making these epic videos like G.U.Y, I wish that she decided to make the Aura video with Jonas Akerlund. Let's not act like she doesn't have the money or the resources. I'm sure Donatella could lend her some Versace for a particular song... Telephone was basically paid for in endorsement deals - which did fit the theme and feel of the video, She is releasing a perfume and a Jazz album while on a successful world tour. She could at least do a video like Cake for Sexxx Dreams. She keeps talking about how ARTPOP will be remembered and appreciated in the future, but there isn't a lot to appreciate right now. Some more collaborations with artists would be very nice too, or at least some side art projects of her own. The ARTPOP gallery she was going to set up in Australia sounded incredible. I have no doubt that Gaga wants to do all of the things you mentioned, but her label isn't gonna give her the money to make another project as massive as G.U.Y. when it didn't even break the top 20. She needs time to re-establish herself in the public eye before she can start experimenting again.
Pain of fame1 229
I honestly think her best work is yet to come. She only scraped the surface with BTW.

djBuffoon 12,120
My expectations were exceeded by both Born This Way and ARTPOP. Nothing has changed since then.
Hexxx 2,244
I wasn't overhyped, I was just disappointed by the music and the so-called 'themes' of the album. I'm not lowering my expectations because there were some fantastic songs on the album, so clearly Gaga has the potential to make music I love. Benji 20,113
ARTPOP didn't meet my expectations but I don't think it's lowered my expectations really. She had a lot going on during the making of the album and was being pushed from pillar to post! I kind of think she lost herself in making ARTPOP and not in a good way and that's why I agreed with that article that praised her abilities but noted that she needed an editor to push through with her great ideas and put out the "bad" ones. ARTPOP has some gems, and I'm sure there are more that were unreleased.
mvgp 112
I've already accepted she will probably never do an album as marvelous as Born This Way, but I really hope the next one will be at least 3 times better than ARTPOP (not that hard though)
Hexxx 2,244
It's really the eras that make me hate the albums. Like BTW was so damn good but the best songs didn't even get released. All the "This could be a hit but the GP may not like it" crap started coming into play then nine of my faves became singles. And it got even worse with ARTPOP. The messy single eras. I mean I truly love the music but what's the point in supporting if you don't even try to fight the GP with your messages. The music is good but u let a chart failure hold you back. I would like her to keep releasing singles regardless of chart positions. I tbh am really hyped for the next album because this one has been at a stand still for too long. If she decides to release more songs from ARTPOP, then I would be very happy. Who knows, maybe the next single will be a hit  Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
EdgeofTeeth 1,934
I love ARTPOP, it just wasn't the raving electronic/techno explosion that Gaga promised it would be. The songs that came closest to that description were Aura, G.U.Y., and Mary Jane Holland... But I still think that the album turned out very different from what Gaga had in mind in the earlier stages of making it.
EdgeofTeeth 1,934
The music to me is still really good, ARTPOP is a great pop album. I was just disappointed with the era as a whole. Also the name of the album and the way she tries to create deep meanings for songs that are just pop songs like any other. That pisses me off so much. THIS. Tbh, BTW deserved to be called ARTPOP more than ARTPOP does
rivingtonrebels 245
It makes me sad that Gaga seems to constantly say that some fans don't get ARTPOP and only true fans do and that it's a way of life, etc. Because I just don't see it. ARTPOP is not as good as Born This Way. It just isn't.

Gaga paid for most of it, and she was the one able to use her name to shoot a music video at Hearst Castle. Donatella is giving her couture dresses for fun anyway and she is already getting custom Versace for her tour. I'm sure she has enough to hire some Mansion or venue and shoot an expensive looking video for Donatella. Telephone was almost paid for in it's entirety through endorsement deals. A lot of the products seen in Telephone paid to be featured in the video. Something similar could be achieved for it's follow up video... She released a snippet of a Cake video last time she was on tour, filmed by Terry Richardson. She basically has him following her around everywhere she goes anyway. It would be cool to get a video from him right? Label money isn't really an issue. The label might be able to block it's release, like they did with DWUW, but I doubt they would if it wasn't highly controversial. If she released projects like this after the tour then she would also have time to promote the singles with performances.
Sister 9,907
It's not that I didn't "appreciate" the album, it just was not good enough material in my eyes and I do like some songs off the album. And no, my expectations for Gaga haven't been lowered. I know that she is capable of doing major things in the music industry. Some you win and some you lose, it's that way for all of us. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
