MJHolland 12,725
What a dumb f*cking decision. This pisses me off. How is barring me and my (hypothetical) boyfriend from getting married and having all the same legal protection for our family and enjoying all the same tax reliefs as straight couples IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STATE!?!?! Like that literally makes ZERO sense whatsoever!!!!!! Do they not understand that this makes kids LESS safe? Because there are always going to be gay couples that adopt children, but now that family will not have the legal protection provided to them under the law that can ONLY be obtained through marriage. It is literally in the state's BEST interest to legalize same s-x marriage to make sure that those couples can provide full protection to those children!!!!! I'm sick of people say this has to be left up to the states. We need a federal bill ensuring marriage and other protections for all LGBT people in this country. Sadly congressional republicans are looking like they will take the majority in goths houses this next year. There will not be a single bill advancing LGBT rights while they are in. It's very sad. Unless Hillary pushes through executive orders, it's up to the judicial branch. and yes I did just assume that Hillary will be president come 2016. You can bookmark me Oh no. This is bad. What if this is now used as precedent? But tbh, this will probably be appealed and overturned. It's a lower court, this would never be used as a precedent (unless inside the state of Tennessee). On the national level this means nothing, and as you said the ruling will likely be appealed, and in fact there are other cases in Tennessee's circuit that have already advanced further than this ruling. So this really does mean nothing since another state's ruling will likely go to the Circuit Court of Appeals and override this ruling first (as we are about to see in the Denver (right? It's in Denver I think) Circuit Court of Appeals - that is the Utah case btw)

Redstreak 6,653
You can literally tear apart and refute everyone single one of his arguments. It doesn't matter though. It will be made legal soon and he'll just be looked back on as a horrible bigot Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Kermit the frog 1,936
The promotion of family continuity and stability is certainly a legitimate state interest. Then why rob the gays of their rights to start families and maybe adopt those poor children from orphanages? What kind of completely flawed logic?
