Here's basically my point of view. I live maybe 20 min away from Furgeson. This is entirely my opinion and many many other locals believe this also.

Mike Brown wasn't innocent. He robbed a store to steal Swisser Sweets cigars (Which are used to make Blunts because of the paper, which is common around here) He was high and beat up Darren.

The protesters, sure they have a right to protest but it's getting old. The blacks vs white cop thing has been in st.louis for a very long time and it's going nowhere. STL is a bad city...there are areas where you will get shot at. There are thugs everywhere downthere asking for money or for smokes. The protesters need to stick to daylight hours. Furgeson was once a nice city, my parents lived there 20 years ago and now look at it.

Some of the African community in STL tend to play the racism card a lot and they say that they aren't being treated equally when we have given them plenty of equal rights in STL. They choose not to take them.

A lot of locals are upset. Me including. These protesters/looters have ruined Ferguson and some of these business they burnt down/looted wont be coming back. That QT they burned down, isn't coming back. That's a fact. It's going to be an empty lot. Call me racist, but you wont know anything until you lived and visit downtown STL on a regular basis (My ex had an apartment on 8th and pine)

Saint Louis was just getting back on it's feet. It was voted one of the Top 5 most dangerous cities multiple years, and after this incident it'll surely make #1

:applause:

THANK YOU. I can't believe we live within 10 minutes of each other and STILL haven't met.

1. Says who? (EDIT: about being high and beating Wilson, that is)

2. Your choice of words in the 2nd paragraph is interesting. Who is in a position of giving? As if "they" have to "take it"?

Calling him a victim and calling this a murder after all this information has been brought to light is a little ridiculous. Not gonna lie. And all the evidence hasn't even been released yet, more is yet to come.

wow nice one lil white boy shut the **** up tryin to ignore the blatant racism goin on throughout this incident

An uncivil and uncalled-for response to a thoughtful post.

It's nice to see some black people doing self-criticism too and not just blaming everything on the police and racism: http://www.newrepublic.com/article/119148/ferguson-renews-debate-among-blacks-politics-respectability

Ive neard it reported that toxicology showed marijuana was in his system,. I dont think it has been verified for sure yet though. But also the cop said he thought Brown acted like he was on something.

Many witnesses say there was a fight at the car, one witness said he saw Brown punching in through the car window, the cop had a swollen face and was taken to the hospital and xrayed.

I heard it on the news, I think on CNN. I did say it hasnt been verified though, its just something a reorter heard from an inside source. I guess if its true it'll come out during the grand jury testimony and will be reported then. The grand jury just started meeting yesterday. Maybe we'll have to wait for the trial though, I dunno.

I dont think it has anything to do with how he was acting anyhow though. Marijuana doesn't make you violent.

Re the fight at the car, stories about it have been all over the news. Witnesses have described it on tv interviews. I dont think you know much about the case.

For me, the main relevance of the robbery is it explains why the robber might act in a crazy aggressive with the police. Fleeing the scene of the crime, he likely was jumpy, excited, fearful, and apt to do something stupid like attack a policeman and try to grab his gun.

Police may harass blacks and use excessive force, but they generally don't shoot people for no reason.

I agree. I think there is the possibility of a manslaughter conviction though because the cop shot at Brown as he was fleeing (the police have admitted that), and he may have shot Brown as he was going down on the ground (that's what witnesses have said).

Here's what I think happened:

I think there was fight at the cop car where Brown punched the cop in the face and tried to get his gun, the gun went off, Brown then ran away from the car and the cop got out and followed and fired several shots and yelled freeze, Brown stopped and turned around, but then for some crazy reason moved/ran back towards the cop, the cop felt threatened and opened fire (the autopsy shows at least six bullets holes in Browns body).

The question is, did he have to kill Brown or could he have stopped shooting before Brown was dead? The first several shots hit Brown in the right arm/side as he was moving forward. Brown bent over and maybe even started falling forward but the cop didn't stop shooting, he shot at least twice more which went through Browns eye and lastly through the top of his head. Those last two shots are what killed him. I think it is justified because Brown moved /charged at the cop after he was told to freeze and because it happened fast. But a jury may decide that he didn't need to take those last two shots that killed him and they may also decide that he shouldn't have shot at Brown when he was fleeing with his back turned.

Anyhow that's what I think happened for now, maybe that will change as more evidence emerges.

Thanks for sharing... it's maybe not the "PC" way to look at things, but your feelings seem really passionate and genuine, and I always appreciate that. What do you think it will take to make the St Louis area safer/nicer? What do you think all people (citizens, police, media, politicians) need to do to differently to live more harmoniously with each other?

Thank you for understanding. I know i could of made it nicer, but i'm trying to express my opinion in a manner that is more passionate than anger filled, if that makes sense. STL is a beautiful city...a city with years of history. What will it take to make it safer/nicer? No clue honestly, it's such a difficult situation and a solution to that is a hard one to come up with that is realistic.

For people to live more Harmoniously with each other... A better understanding of why police act the way they do and a way for people to get out of the ghetto and into schools and better, more respectable jobs. For that to happen, you have to have the drive to do. A percentage of the people living in STL are living on Welfare and other government aid. I can safely assume that the looters (Wherever they come from) are not well off and are such individuals living off Government aid.
