Ugh, I hate how whenever anything happens in the US it always turns into the US vs. other countries in threads like this.

I agree, this is an American problem. Foreigners may be free to comment, but it looks like bad taste and usually always comes across as ignorant generalizations when so many claim to have superior education systems. Using logic and common sense really helps one's case who claim to be logical and sensible. :coffee:

Whispering

American cities where gun laws are strictly enforced maintain their high rates of homicide (Chicago is a prime example). Criminals will get guns no matter what. You know why? Because they're criminals. They're not going to follow the law.

At this point, it would be like putting toothpaste back in the tube. Things have gotten to far out of control. Laws and regulations could be made to slowly and systematically curtail the availability of many of the assault type weapons and stricter background checks would be helpful in some situations. No one is saying there is a way to fix everything instantaneously and no one is saying that you can't own your gun.

And...I was just responding with the information that the person was asking for, with my comment you quoted.

We really should get back to what is going on what is happening in Ferguson. Maybe you could start a gun rights thread in the conversation area?

Would you find this on Fox News? Positive vibes from Black youth at Harvard Law School! :)

:dies: No...never!

watching the live stream, lots of crazy stuff going on. police firing some kind of firework type things exploding around houses at a protest group just after telling everyone to turn their cameras off? o_O

Indeed, like a lock down or cover up. I sure hope whatever they are using is not dangerous to inhale. I heard they fired tear gas at the Al Jazeera America Group. I hope they realize this excessive behavior fuels attention and makes them look even worse, giving good police officers a bad image.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

I just want everyone to realize the more and more officers continuously gas out protestors (including journalists), give out vague info on Michael Brown's death, and physically assault journalists who have every right to report, they're only digging a deeper grave for themselves. It's not helping their look at all.

It may sound very nosy, but every person has the right to know what's going on. We don't need to know every single thing word-for-word, but we should at least have concrete information. If you're only following the TV, it's like a 75-piece puzzle and you're missing 30 pieces.

This is frustrating.  We'll be on night five of protests.  :fail:

TUNE INTO CNN. GOV. NIXON HAS A NEWS CONFERENCE ON FERGUSON RIGHT NOW.

POLICE REFUSING TO RELEASE POLICE OFFICER'S NAME.

OFFICIALS: "WE HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE."

If any of you have any run-ins with the police (God forbid you do), and they are acting out of line and you record them with your phone, know that what you are doing is, in fact, legal and they cannot stop you from taping them.

I always think that. Always record. Even if it is just audio.

Yep, anything to prove what happened is good and legal!

Thank you! I'm about to clean up the OP and create a Journalist's Take section. I'll include the link.

Flashback on Gov. Nixon:

MO Gov. Jay Nixon made some controversial statements:

It's just funny how when certain things like this happen, so many past articles pop up. This isn't looking good at all for them, and they know it. :fail:

Howard University students show support for Michael Brown and Ferguson Protestors by holding hands in the air signaling the "DON'T SHOOT" movement that's been taking Twitter and other social media platforms by storm.

This makes me extremely upset.
